    If you can delete /.system gupdate.gcd and go back to garmincure3. Sorry but where is the /.system update.gcd?
    Do the same as you did before except this time do not "make cure" use "make firmware." When I did this initially, I pressed the "make firmware" button then used the 'Updater.exe button to update the device. The 'Cure' button has always been selected.
    Then reflash the Nuvi again with the firmware. It's worth a try.
    Maybe you are still running the cure firmware now.
    And what is this "cat" you speak of, the screen should display the Garmin logo.
    When my device starts up I get the Garmin logo for a few seconds then it goes to a picture of a cat siting on a window ledge. it used to say "loading maps' underneath this picture when it worked fine..

    Lolypop is sending you files.
    Please do as he instructs you.
    ./system is a hidden folder inside your nuvi.

    Now extract Nuvi 13xx Backup.rar directly to your nuvi

    If some window popup that you already have this file when you extract directly on nuvi click overvrite

    When is all extracted run webupdater and update all (FW and voice,text ...)

    When your done nuvi will turn on normaly

    Now add map in your nuvi and you ready to go

    Hi Lolypop,
    He might have to reflash firmware once more with updater.exe and rgn file because the cure is already on 5.8 ??
    The nuvi might not update from 5.8 to 5.8.
    What do you think ?

    Yes thanks.

    So once I've downloaded the back up file to my desktop. How do I extract to my Nuvi??

    Also, to delete all current files on my Nuvi do I just delete EVERYTHING on the Garmin folder??

    Thanks

    @dasilvarsa

    In my garmindevice.xml is version 3.60 so webupdater will download.

    @Tony1971

    Backup that i send to you extract with winrar. (if you dont have winrar you can download here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] )
    File on your nuvi: Yes just delete EVERYTHING

    Ho Lolypop

    I've installed winrar now.

    So I've got the back up file and installed winrar.

    Should I now

    1. connect my Nuvi with the USB lead and delete everrything on the garmin folder.

    2. Instal the back up files to my Nuvi using winrar? if so do I just click "extract to" and select the Garmin?

    Cheers
    Tony
