I have no idea where usb-related info is stored, if any. But I think it's a good idea to flash a few regions dumped from a healthy device.

Download and extract directly to empty SD

Add SD card in nuvi and turn it ON (disconnect nuvi from Pc before you turn ON)

When flash is over your nuvi will turn on normaly

    Now erase all from SD

Then try using other cables and/or cleaning both USB connectors. If it still doesn't help then I can try to make a firmware patcher that forces entering the flash drive mode when a Power Cable is connected. However, this wouldn't be comfortable in everyday use.
Can you really do this? itīs worth to try.

You will have a problem using it with a Car Power supply if the sofware is patched to enter USB Mode with a Charger Cable.

It's possible to copy and delete files in the nuvi using the method explained in the thread below using an sd card.

I have one more idea... Each time you want to see the nuvi's flash drive you put it into pre-boot mode and flash something quickly. After you're done with the flash drive, the nuvi boots normally. No need to flash two large firmwares, but just a small one and only once.

itīs kind of annoying, but it can work... actually itīs what i did to update my Nuvi. Like i donīt have to do that very often i think this can work, and i can update maps with the SD using an external card reader. I just wanted to make it work like it should.

    Thanks for all your help.
