As said aekhong updater.exe must be already executed.
Downloaded updater.exe, but cannot run it. (If I try to run the exe I get the message "No update files could be found")

    You can try with this:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Download to PC and unpack.

Go to preboot and run updater.exe in folder Updater

When updater.exe window open click on USB in this window and click OK

Updater.exe must be executed from command line with rgn file name as parameter (example UPDATER.EXE 110100010260.rgn ). Or put updater (not shortcut) on your desktop and then drop on it rgn file.

Was able to update the software. After the update the lcd went black and garmin logo came up again.
Switched nuvi off and on again, but still does not load the software, only garmin logo shows. So same problem as before exists.
Also tried suggestion from voyager in #13 and did reinstall same software.

    Any other suggestion?

Did you try connect your Nuvi to PC after flashing cure firmware. Is it recognized by PC?
The main thing in flashing cure firmware is that Nuvi is visible by PC and you can delete gupdate.gcd and damaged files. For example map files.

When connecting the nuvi to pc it is still not visible. If I go to pre-boot mode it is visible for 4-5 seconds and then gone again.

Hmm...that is weird. Maybe you are not doing something correct. Don't care. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and put the SD card inside the nuvi and wait till the firmware loads. (...folder Garmin and 14.bin) After the FW loads you will have access to the memory. Delete the problematic files and flash normal firmware.

Downloaded all files and copied all to sd card.
Tried to start nuvi in 4 different modes
    1) no usb, normal start
    2) no usb, pre-boot
    3) usb, normal start
    4) usb, pre-boot = PC recognizes the unit for some seconds

In all 4 cases the screen only shows the garmin logo, nothing else
Shall I forget it and buy a new unit?

Or Alexander2010, who is the developer of this the lets say "ultimate cure". Just genius!!!!

    @ Rihana

No, there is still a chance. Don't worry. Just someone is needed to prepare you such FW for nuvi 13xx. Be careful as it will delete all files from the memory of the nuvi and you should restore them manual after that.

I forgot after that the memory needs to be formatted after that.
