BMW Portable Navigation System Plus is made based on the Garmin nuvi 3760 and otlichaetsya just having another logo, and cut down the internal memory to 2 GB.

BMW Portable Navigation System Pro is made based on the Garmin nuvi 3790.

    The software is the same.

    Hi ddabcd277, pandora0001,

I'm glad to find a BMW portable navigation discussion here.

About 2 months ago I had BMW portable plus installed in my BMW 3 and to me it's the best navigation device I ever had because of the tight integration with the vehicle.

While it's indeed the Garmin 37xx inside the main hardware difference is that you (or BMW service station) can connect the device to the car's audio and power lines using the BMW intallation kit together with GTM Traffic Cable (TMC).

Unfortunately I found there is an important sofware difference I found recently when I upgraded to the 34xx firmware.
Everything works great except that I lost the ability to listen the navigation instruction via my car speakers
I'm sure it's just some settings somewhere but don't know how to enable this feature back.

In the original BMW portable this setting was configured using the following which is documented in the User's Guide:
    1. In the main menu select Volume
Then there is a screenshot with
"Audio output" screen with "Internal Speaker" and "Vehicle Speakers" radio buttons selection with "Cancel" and "Save" buttons.
    2. Select Internal Speaker or Vehicle Speaker

Interestingly I was able to find "AUDIO_OUTPUT", "INTERNAL_SPEAKER", "VEHICLE_SPEAKERS text resources in both the original and on the device after firmware update to 34xx Text folder files such as ru_Ru.glx with correct translation. There were also interesting text strings like "VEHICLE_DIAGNOSTICS" and "VEHICLE_PROFILE".

Please help me to find a way to enable the Audio output selection screen.

An yes, I can share the backup of the original files saved before 34xx firmware update.

BTW, in addition to BMW 3 series this installation option is available for 1 series, X3 and Z4. I've heard that similar options with Garmin OEM are available for some Merc and Volvo models.

    Many thanks,
    Sergey

    Hi dasilvarsa,

    Thanks for your reply,

Yes, I can do that but as a last resort only,
After using the new 34xx firmware for about a month now I would definitely prefer to stay on it as it's so much better, no wonder the 37xx to 34xx conversion discussions that I utilised as instructions are popular here:

Just hoping to enable the "Audio output" selection setting somehow with the help of this forums gurus.

I think a lot of OEM solutions are done through the logo.bin and oem.xml
What makes me think that is that recently a friend of mine was playing with OEM.XML. Basically he installed a blank oem.xml and in the Garmin Directory on a nuvi 1350 China Logo.bin (1340-65) . Once the nuvi rebooted it added some numbers to the Last line of the inventory.(Oem cnfg) and deleted the OEM.XML
After another reboot his Nuvi Bricked. It did not go past the first Garmin Screen. The solution was to re flash the Logo.bin with 1340-50

So maybe if you have re-flashed your Logo.Bin you won't be able to go back to BMW Firmware and enable the Audio Output settings.
If you dont have the oem.xml this could also pose a problem.

This is original region 101 from nuvi 1300:

    original region 101

But if you have splash number 1340-65 and if you add Empty oem.xml and oem.txt in folder Garmin and restart nuvi in inventory page you will see oemconfig number REV 0A- but nuvi stuck on garmin logo.
You must flash again logo.bin nuvi start but oem.xml desapire.
If you now scan region 101 you will find this:

    after empty oem

If splash number 1340-65 in logo wont turn on your nuvi after empty oem.xml you change number to 1340-50 and nuvi will turn on.
Now flash back your original region 101.bin and you can try again with splash number 1340-65

This is after oem.xml (with command inside):

    after oem command

In inventory page is oemconfig pass

    Hi Lolypop,
    Very interesting.
What is region 101 ? Is there a list of all the regions on the Nuvi ?
How do you scan it ?
Could you please give me the command.

    Nuvi have 255 region.
If you have splash 1340-50 in oem config is writen consumer default.
If you have splash 1340-65 then is writen xml error and you can add oem.xml in region 101.
