Ok did try But I will have another go. I see some say to holl=d left corner of the screen others say 25mm down and I think 35mm in.
Which the best to try ?

    Many thanks for the help
I might even regain from brick mode
Is it best to downlaod and extract the ldr.bin from Garmin or is there one on here, I have seen some but think it was one of them that caused my brick mode.
Or maybe just me being the brick and not the GPS

Cheers Guys I will post update

Is something wrong with my installation during upgrade?
What have you done to enable features?

    in .System\Diag\html
    you should have this:

    K9F1V
    l9ebnsm
You have to navigate to get to the good.

You need to place your thumb finger exactly above the letter G of garmin logo.
If your are upgrading to 34xx never remove the thumb until you see the message that the update is successful on your pc.
If you do backup/rewrite of reg_140.bin never remove thumb finger until you see loading message and garmin restarts. Follow the process exactly as defined in post#1 and most important be patient and there are very few chances to brick your device.

Using webudater you will not update maps (3D maps too).
For supportedfuture.html file look in .System\Diag\html folder witch is created by firmware when Nuvi reboots.
For voice commands you must have files .asr and .srx files in folder .System\ASR. They are updated with map.
With Webupdater you must download language files for voice recognition. These files are for example en_US.srd, en_GB.srd.
These files also can be found in folder .System\ASR.
Each map comes with this own .asr and .srx files.

Sorry for misunderstanding. I updated maps with lifetimeupdater.

Before upgrading, I have .asr files in ASR folder which are relavant to 3790LMT folder. After upgrading I didnt see the voice command application. So as per the post #185 I deleted all the files in ASR folder as they are related to 3790. I tried updating with lifetimemapupdater but it didn't show any updates and the ASR folder is still empty.

Problem is I do not get as far as a any logo now, just a faint glow, I have been trying approx where G would have been, slso found out from one of the posts the measurements for it. still not got the point where updater finds the device. I will keep trying. I have nothing to lose.

    1. Make sure that you have garmin usb drivers installed, updater.exe is opened with usb option selected and your gps is completely switched off.
    2. Now place your thumb finger at the top left of the gps and power on your gps by connecting the usb to pc. GPS will automatically goes to update mode and click ok at updater.exe on the pc. Dont remove your thumb finger until you see that message that update is successful on the pc
    3. For exact position of the thumb finger you can see the picture that was posted in post#1.
    4. Its not hard just do trial and error to get updater mode.

How can I restore from NV backup?

NV is intended to be a region 41. Put a region 41 copy from backup on SD card in root folder.
    From SD card execute script:

    xrgn,41,1:/41.bin
    reboot

Where 41.bin region 41 backup file.
You must be very careful because you can brick your Nuvi.
