I recopied the ASR/SRX and SID files over to the unit. It also looks like I "missed" copying the .db file to the SQlite folder.

Now "Find Place" works perfectly..... And I'm using the Australian voices, they sound much better than the American (I think my wife has a crush on Lee).

Thanks for the help. Great thread.

I have a problem. Poi search doesn't work on converted device for me.
Every time I do "Where To / Categories / Restaurants" and search for "Starbucks" I immediately get "Cannot find search results...". I have all SID files, and it looks like address search does work. Only issues with POI.
    Any ideas?

    Edit:
Found it happens due to Europe DEM Layer. Anybody knows how to fix that without turning DEM Layer off?

May be don't you have proper files for 34xx? I don't think DEM can interfere with POIs search

Back again....my junction view isn't working. I had the 2014.10 maps w/Junction View working previously on my 3760 - and am using the same files on my converted 3490.

I did have to move my map file over to the SD card due to memory limitations. Initially I kept my JCV folder/file in main memory in the System/JCV folder. So I thought maybe it needed to be on the SD card too, and moved it over to a Garmin/JCV folder. Still no JCV.

    What to try next???

If it's the right jcv file [D3191090A.JCV] for the NA 2014.10 map and it must be if it was working before as 3760, then there is no good reason why the exact same map & jcv file won't work with the unit converted to 3490. Those described paths are correct too for the unit and card. It doesn't matter if the jcv file and map are both on the unit or card, or one is one the card and the other on the unit. I don't know what to suggest other than are you sure you've tried a route with JC views available? Try a simulated route from the center of NY City. Select New York, NY from the top of the list [Press Where To?>Categories>Towns>Enter Search>'New York'] and then set that as your location. Then repeat for Buffalo, NY as a destination. There are heaps of JC Views on that route.

Otherwise, redownload the JCV file and replace your current copy. Maybe it's been damaged somehow.

I'm trying to flash my device from the 34xx firmware to the 37xx firmware (I have a 3790). I followed the guide exactly and used Updater to flash back the 37xx_450.rgn firmware. It was stuck at 100% and then gave me a program error. Now when I turn on my device, it only has no display but there is still backlight. I'm trying to flash it again but cannot put in pre-boot mode, I already tried pressing over the upper left OR above the G (I cannot see the Garmin logo here, so I'm just estimating) but the PC cannot detect it in pre-boot mode.

    What can I do?

Got it to work already. I've backread in this thread and the trick was to press over the G logo (for the 3790) just after the backlight appears and NEVER BEFORE it appears.

I think the original issue that caused my 3790 to being bricked is that I accidentally used a USB3 port instead of USB2.

Use the entire pad of your left thumb to cover the area both on and over the 'G' or where it should be. This is particularly valuable it you don't know whether your unit is flashed as a 34 or 37 or when there is no logo as you had. And you are right about waiting for the unit to come on before pressing. This is not the case with other devices where you hold the upper LH corner before turning on to access pre-boot.

Maybe, but i've not heard of that and it really does seem unlikely. USB3 ports are backwardly compatible with USB 1 & 2 devices, the same as USB 2 ports are backwardly compatible with USB 1 devices. More likely imo that something simply went wrong with the process the first time

Duh....I had the wrong JCV file. I did 2 quick map upgrades to my 3760 - I must have missed the right JCV file when I did it the 2nd time for the 2014.10 maps. I seem to be messing up the simple things now, after getting through the 34xx upgrade relatively easy....

I really appreciate the help of this forum to do the upgrade. I don't miss having a 3597 at all now. And the interface between this and my wife's 2595 are now essentially the same...

One last thing.... I'm not sure whether I'm seeing the 3D topography with the upgrade. I have the 3D buildings showing fine. Is there a good route to check the 3D topography on?
