I also know about restore/change model number by xrgn,41 from other unit.
I guess it's not a big problem for Alex (and he can restore model number easily by the other ways).

Interesting if we can add 3D Building ability/3D Terrain to 3750 or 37xx (lost model number) by just using .xml not firmware/memory patching.

What if xrgn, 41 is made using a backup of original unit (rrgn, 41)? Still problematic?

Clearing region 41 you removes registration code and unlock codes too, all this data should be visible in GarminDevice.xml. The original map, that came with nuvi would become locked.

You can restore 41 if you have a backup form your device.

But you lose your model number (not big problem)
And NEVER erase regions 05 and 43 - it kill your device.
if erase then write before reboot will kill?
I tried to overwrite without erase before but it didn't do the job.

    Check syntax.
From Kanopus post on another thread:

No suggestion there of any need to erase ANYTHING before writing. If it didn't update you may have file path/name syntax error?

For me it works without erasing, but adding erase before writing doesn't interfere.

    including regions 05 and 43?

I wouldn't try to erase or write regions with code. Better not experiment on 5 and 43 if you aren't sure what you are doing.

bpb, NEVER erase regions 05 and 43!!! Your device will be dead with 100% probability!!!
