ok I've got the system up and running but it won't recognize map downloads, audio and FM transmitter database's.

Can anyone direct me on what I need to do to reinstall these to get the unit functional again?

Have you reflashed it again with the original.rgn after flashing the cure ?
    After that run webupdater

Maybe not., (if you use swv of cure firmware same as original firmware.)
So you can get the original firmware saved as .rgn file using RGN_Tool (now without modifed so will work perfectly.) and flash tne Nuvi again.

the cure is made not to load the files you changed in hex, if you dont reflash it to original .rgn, nuvi wont load them anymore, so :flash cure/ delete corrupted files using your pc/reflash to original .rgn/ webupdater

The original.rgn is the one from where you started and you modified with hex editor. You got it from firmware using RGN tool- Infos in post n1 here

thank you very much. I gave up late last night to spend some time with my son but will get back at it later.

Seems very easy to do but somehow I find a way to make it more difficult than it needs be.

I never did get a response. In my situation where the map download got interrupted, which files from the internal memory are the ones I should delete?
