Red face Garmin 2360 can't boot

    This is my sad story.
I have a situation that I see Garmin logo then it becomes brighter and then device turns off.
This happened after I connected the device to linux pc and deleted Gpx folder and Map folder with unlocked map from root directory. At least I think so, probably I've deleted something else.
When I connect the device to the PC it constantly reloading and it's not detected by the PC at all.
I do not see that the device is loading, I just see log than copyright words appear and then it becomes black. If I place on sd card Map folder I see for a sec "Loading maps" and then it's off.
I've tried to place the whole device backup (I have the copy) on the sd card but nothing happens and I also tried to place GUPDATE.GCD to Garmin folder.
I am not sure if the device sees sd card because I've never used it (this 16GB class 6 card from my android phone).
I've read that I have to make cure rgn. I've made it according to instructions.
But I can't understand how to enter pre-boot mode.
I've found out that if I connect UDB cable and place finger on the upper left corner Update.exe detects the device for 15-20 seconds but than display becomes white and "Touch dot" appears and and updater.exe doesn't see the device from that moment.
If device isn't connected nothing happens
So is it safe to upload rgn during those 15 sec?
What can I do else? Please help.

Should stay longer visible by updater.exe. Don't hold the turn on button. Maybe this trigers rebooting.

Here an idea - with rgn tool prepare cure GUPDATE.gcd from the cure you have made and flash it from the SD card. Let say version 3.11.

Thanks for the idea but no luck .
I've taken 310 firmware (device has 320). Extracted boot and fw_all, then I've modified them with test.bat and test.xsc (added all replaces) and made GUPDATE.gcd. I've tried to place it in Garmin folder and .System
There is small hope that device doesn't support 16gb sd card. I will try to find a smaller one.
I do not hold turn on button... The device seems to be working because sometime I see loading it maps and I've saw once a message that power cable is disconnected after I disconnected USB during logo.

I understand. So if the the last installed firmware is 3.20 better use 320 for experimening:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Only place the modified gupdate.gcd firmware in a folder x:/Garmin. That should be enough.

    Here one more suggestion:
    - Just create and empty folder x:/Garmin on the SD card and put it in the nuvi. See what is happening.

I've tried that and nothing has happened and folder is empty. Should the device write something to it?

Unit not visible for a long time in updater and not possible to be flashed with .rgn firmware scares me. This could be due to problem in the memory, boot or lets hope you are not doing something in the right way...Hope it is the second one. Try different ways and see if you can try to flash the .rgn firmware. Unfortunately, I am not very fammiliar with 2xxx series. As I wrote the best way is through .rgn as .gcd needs more time to be read from the boot, checked and flash the correct regions.

Once Nuvi can boot to show Logo then let's hope to find the way to access pre-boot mode.

If you have win 7 right click on updater.exe and make compatibility with windows xp sp3 and run as administrator.
Put finger in uper left corner and hold finger on screen.
With other hand connect nuvi to pc and updater.exe will recognize nuvi.
Flash with rgn from the link:

As I've written before white screen with "Touch dot" appears and the device isn't detected anymore.
Maybe if I start flashing it will stay in pre-boot mode?

And this happens only if the device is connected to the PC. It's written everywhere that I shoul access pre-boot mode and AFTER that I connect the device.
My situation is if don't connect the device just turns off.
I will redo the procedure once again later today.

I've repaired my garmin device with the help of one guru.
As I've written before my 2360 was at preboot mode only for 15 seconds and I was afraid of flashing the firmware.
But you can flash it as soon as it is detected by the PC. You just press the upper left corner then updater.exe detects the device and you quickly press OK then updater begins its work and you can stop pressing.
The problem was that cure firmwares didn't help. So that guy has made some firmware which restores the filesystem and it has worked. After that I could restore back my device from the backup.
He assumes that the filesystem has broken because I've connected it to the Linux system.
