Technically there are 10,000. Counting from 0001 to 9999 inclusive gives 9999 number combinations. 9999 + 0000 equals 9999 mathematically but 0000 is another possible number combination. So you are 99.99% correct dasil ... which is much more than i usually achieve in any of my endeavors.

@Caty, should we have a thread setting out the requirements for anyone seeking to unlock a unit so that these OTs can be moved there and future requests can be posted or moved there? They seem to pop up occasionally and our answers are always consistently the same anyway, virtually: 'Prove your ownership by PM or go away'.

A thread for that would be a nice thing, and if anyone would care to know, i have reciept, and everything for my dads 1240 - old people tend to keep those things...
    Maybe age makes you wiser

The problem is quite real, 150$ charge for unlock, often is more than the value of a new unit, and why dump a perfectly good unit, that is creating avoidable waste.

Latest posts above have been moved from Discussion section and merged to an existing thread concerning the same matter, added a notice in post n1 and title modified as Neil suggested in his post.
The requirements for anyone seeking to unlock a unit are posted in starting post.

    Hi,
I hope I'm not doing this totally wrong. I have a garmin 255. I bought it off ebay. Should have, but didn't notice it was locked. I bought it for my daughter. She can find her way home but that's about it. I emailed garmin and included the serial number. They asked for $79 to unlock it. They did not indicate it was stolen. While I have 2 others that I bought new and are registered to me, all I can supply are pictures of the unit, the ebay listing (it shows serial number), and a picture of my eagle scout badge! I fully understand if this doesn't satisfy your requirements but if it does I would appreciate your help.

The problem is thieves sell stolen nuvis on Ebay, if we unlock yours other users will come here to ask for help and these trades will increase, stolen nuvis will increase
Send it back to Ebay reseller.

There is no way to recover the pin from older devices including 6x0. Absolutely no way because it's impossible. Other than of course entering every possible 10,000 combinations of the 4 number pin from 0000 to 9999 as mentioned previously above.

Open a case with eBay or PayPal if you paid thru there provided the Seller didn't prominently disclose the pin locked state in the listing. You won't get satisfaction if he made full disclosure.

    Default Garmin locked with pin

    Good Day Guys,
A freind of mine has a garmin nuvi 2360 that is locked with a pin. I am trying to save him some bit money by opening it myself instead of paying Garmin to do it for him. Can someone poin me in the direction of a tutorial? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

G'day SpYkz2. I moved your post here. Please read the requirements in the initial post and if you can satisfy all those we can help you. If you can't, i'm sorry, but don't bother.
