    I think you misunderstood. It wasn't the standard sd method that i was referring too [i.e. ldr.bin in 0827 folder with text command]. As said 'modified boot.bin as *.rgn file flashed remotely with Updater.exe for text cmd execution'. The boot.bin needs to be patched in hex for that, but it's quite OT here so open a thread and we'll try it [Loly & I don't give up easily either ].

    Sorry guys, newbie question. I have an old 205W, which I want to update to the latest firmware. From this thread, I understand the 205 has two different hardaware versions; where/how do I find the hardware ID?

    Check in Garmin folder and open garmindevice.xml
    You'll see something like this:
    PartNumber>006-B1376-00</PartNumber>
    Where part in red is your device HWID.
    (This above is my nuvi HWID)
