    You can keep dropping the firmware into the .System folder until blue in the face. It won't solve your problem. To fix this, you must do as Catymag suggested in posts #45 and #48, which is to enter into pre-boot mode so you can see the hidden memory store where the firmware is stored. You have to drop the firmware into that memory store if you want to fix your problem. So do follow the directions given by Catymag instead of being bullish.

    must really find a version that it caused, but we always follow the following procedure:

    alt.fw 2.90 -> orig.fw 5.40 -> alt.fw 3.10 -> orig.fw 5.40 -> alt ... -> orig.fw 5.40

    therefore never alt.fw 2.90 -> alt.fw 3.10 -> alt ... -> Orig. -> Alt

    Thank you for reply.
    I am not understand how to place the Gupdate.gcd file into internal memory in pre-boot mode ? I am only know how to place the Gupdate. rgn file through the Updater in pre-boot.
    Would you be so kind to describe this process, thank you?

    Try to ask you again.
    Did you use for flashing firmware (alt. fw 290 and orig. fw 540) with .rgn ? extention (not .gcd ?) and loaded it into Nuvi by Updater tool when Nuvi is in pre-boot mode?

    Try with this:

    Remove your eula and add this from rar remove also 006B090100.gcd from remote sw.

    Inside rar is also updater and folder 1
    Try first with updater.

    When on nuvi screen write software missing flash with your EU original rgn.

    If its xml stil corupt try the same with folder 1.

    SOLVED
    It was not easy to find the combination of alternative firmware that I tested some months ago (rik70 thanks for idea).
    It was Japan ver. 2.70 (i.e. EU510_JPN270. rgn).
    And I loaded it to my Nuvi 1310 by Updater tool when the device was in the pre-boot mode.
    Then I started Nuvi and checked how it works and check that GarminDevice.xml is correct.
    After this I loaded the original firmware nuvi 13xx ver. 5.10 ( rgn extention again) by Updater when Nuvi was in pre-boot mode.
    Device started, check everything good and the GarminDevice.xml file became correct !
    I could check the updates through the WebUpdater now and install the last version 5.70 and additional files. Everything works fine.

    Thanks to everybody ( rik70, lolypop000, Catymag...)
