    ? Older Firmware for 276cx

    Hello,

It seems Garmin has removed all older firmware for the 276cx. Does anyone have a link to some alternate download options? I have had a look through some of the forum links but it seems the 276cx is not listed. I have a bricked 276cx I have managed to flash it with Cure3 and the flash was successful but the unit is still stuck at the Garmin boot logo. I would like to try and rescue the unit with an older firmware if possible.

    Kind regards
    Alex

    Default Resolved

I managed to resolve the bricked 276Cx tldr - files on the internal storage were cross-linked

the 276cx was stuck on the Garmin logo, with startup and holding in the up arrow I could access the device in storage mode but I could not do anything else.

I then tried using Cure3 to reflash the device in preboot mode I found the following here and in one other forum

When the unit is turned off, keep the POWER and PAGE, ENTER, DOWN keys pressed to turn on the unit. Also keep the last three keys pressed when re-flashing the firmware with a good copy. I am not sure it is necessary to keep the three buttons pressed it seems to work either way.

This did not resolve the issue after the Cure 3 procedure the only change was the Software Loading... message until the unit was turned off.

On this forum some of the nuvi recovery procedures point to corrupt files I then decided to put the unit into storage mode and then ran a disk check on the internal storage. I use Windows so I used chkdsk d: /f checkdsk reported back that a number of files were cross-linked (Basically two files are sharing the same space on the disk) two of the files were map files and another was a voice file. Chkdsk then asked if I wanted to convert the lost chains to files after doing that I also manually deleted the files reported as cross-linked. I then restarted the unit and everything is working as it should.
