    Hi,

    I've just succesfully patched Montana new firmware 5.40 with Alex firmware patcher 2.14.

    Can I now put the resulting gupdate.gcd file into Montana's body without any risks given that patched 5.4 hasn't been tried yet ?

    Hi,

    I patched Montana 5.4 firmware with Alex firmware patcher 2.14 and installed it on my Montana.

    Garmin fixed total ascent bug on Montana (which was over or underestimated in comparaison with real total ascent obtained from track imported in BaseCamp) a few firmwares ago.

    With patched Montana 5.3 firmware, I didn't notice any bug, but since I upgraded to patched 5.4, total ascent bug has been reappearing. Accorging to others Montana's owners, this bug has not reappeared if using "normal" 5.4 firmware.

    So I was wondering if patch in 5.4 couldn't be responsible for total ascent bug reappearance.

    Has anybody noticed anything similar or does it come from my own Montana ?

    @sergio2
    Could you please try to install the original 5.4, and check if the problem disappears?

    Hi,

    @AlexWhiter

    I've just installed original 5.4, but have no time to test it at the moment.
    As soon as I test it, I will inform you.

    I'm planning to add a support of Monterra or, most likely, to make a separate patcher for it.

    The only problem is with the testing - I don't have Monterra, and I don't think I'm going to buy it, so I will need testers.
    It's quite possible that at first, the patched FWs would brick the devices, and we need to find any kind of recovery instructions before all this can be started.

    @AlexWhiter

    I tried original 5.4 firmware on Montana this WE instead of patched one : no changes, patch is not responsible for total ascent bug.
