Ah, nope. My fault for missing that. I did look at rooting the 4.10 firmware though. Looked like most did not achieve root on it. Mine shipped with the latest firmware, just needed to update the 1.30 GOS. Downgrade then root looked like. VS 29.99 year subscription or the My maps -> Basecamp -> Device option again. Oregon worked without a hitch though.

    Appreciate the direction.

I have patched the gupdate.gcd file for my gpsmap 64s using the firmware patcher called IMGPatcher_v23-5-2016. This patcher is to overcome the problem with MSV (Map Signature Verification) so I can now load Unicode garmin maps without authentication. If I wish to use patched JNX files on the device, I would have to reflash the device with the original gupdate.gcd file and then flash the untouched gupdate.gcd file with this firmware, called FirmwarePatcher340? Is this correct? If correct, then it is not possible to have both Unicode Garmin map files and unauthorized JNX files on the device at the same time? I see that sergio2 in post #344 has used both patchers but how? One after the other? Thank you for your help.

The patchers can be applied one after another, so you can use both JNX and unauthenticated IMG maps.

If someone already has the device, you can test the patch to see the JNX maps.
