    Default Modding 3760T

Does anyone know how to enable 3D buildings on 3760T ?
It's the same hardware/firmware like 3790T, but with disabled 3D support in software.
I am not interested in ASR. Why I ask, because it's a great unit, but you do
not get what you pay for! You can see building numbers, but not the buildings since they are in 3D format with included maps. The only working solutions I know is to flash SG/MY firmware or to install a different version of the map, with buildings in 2D format.
But that's not the best solution. What I have noticed is some retailers are starting to sell modded 3760T with enabled 3D or you can purchase a patch that will do it to your unit. Apparently the mod works by tricking the firmware to think it's 3790T by replacing two files and maybe something else.

The way that 3D will be displayed in 3760 is converting to 3790CHN swv 2.20
turboccc did and success to get 3D building + Terrain view to show in his 3760US.

However., the newer 3760 maybe difficult to convert., so just try it.
You can get 3790 CHN2.20 f/w here --> [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Yes, Turboccc solution works, but it's different. The solution offered by some retailers is different.
You can flash old SG/MY/TAI firmware to get the 3D functions of 3790T probably because they don't have official 3760T.
Because of that the firmware does not check anything and enables all the available bells and whistles by default.
Some people offer upgrade to SG firmware in order to get extra functions like MP3 player, but by doing a different mod (I bet disabling the check between 3760 and 3790 on bootup or something else), they keep the original firmware, and apparently it passes the automatic webupdate upto the latest 3.60 firmware.

    Hi stacy_o .,
    Do you get RGN_Tool ?
You have to know your firmware first.
Try to extract your original gupdate.gcd to get boot.bin

(To say step by step is easy but to flash nuvi with modified firmware is dangerous ., so you need to know what you are doing. )

I found the RGN_tool. It provided following information.

    HWID 1101
    SW Version 250

    boot.bin

    Section 0800 HWID 1101
    Size 672508 SW Version 360

    fw_all.bin
    Section BD02 HWID 1101
    Size 12876800 SW Version 360

    fw1_resources.bin
    Section 7F05 HWID N/A
    Size 36979796 SW Version N/A

The other options are greyed out.

Now what I have to do? I took a backup of the garmin device. Unfortunately it was not possible to copy ".System" to same Folder under XP so I named it "_System". I hope the ".System" folder is still active after a crash on the device. Any advice how to backup?

    Next step
Then you know what is in your firmware.
Only your original boot.bin will be used for making a modified .gcd or .rgn

Next :: What other region firmware do you like?
    Now we have
    Sg/My 2.20 / Sg/My 2.30 / Sg/My 2.50
    CHN 2.20 / CHN 2.30
    Taiwan 2.10

Get the other region gupdate.gcd file you want and extract with RGN_Tool to save
    - fw_all.bin
    - fw1_resources.bin

The modified .gcd or .rgn file will be
    Original US boot.bin + Other region fw_all.bin + other region fw1_resources.bin
but you have to modified hwid of other region (we will say about it later ., This is not all of steps you need to know )

You can simply back data up as you did.
You nuvi won't brick if you use original boot.bin
If you get problem :: it's easy to restore just flash it back with original US gupdate.gcd

What would you suggest? There are some features under different fireware versions (Mp3 and Poi's on the map). The .rgn is only for other devices? I understood like this. Combine you orginial boot.ini with fw-all.bin and fw1_rescources remember your Version from boot.ini and alter the fw_all.bin and fw1_rescources.bin to the same version like boot.ini? Create one gupdate.gcd and overwrite the one under .System. - Finally reboot. What is about the language is it Thai or something else, I would suggest it reboots the the default language you have choosen. That about voice activation navigation? Will it function?

Yes, change fw_all hwid to the same as boot.bin.
    You can save to
    .GCD file or
    .RGN file

    For .gcd
You can put in 2 places
    - .system\gupdate.gcd or
    - sd card\garmin\gupdate.gcd
I like to put in sd card

    For .rgn
You need updater.exe to flash a .rgn file with pre-boot mode

You should know how to flash with .rgn via pre-boot mode.
Because if you get the rebooting loop problem , then you have only pre-boot mode to restore your Nuvi.

How to go to pre-boot mode
    -go to inventory page
    -press Exit
    -Nuvi will re-open
-Press your finger above "G" of "Garmin" logo
-You will see small word "system" above Garmin logo , that's mean you are in pre-boot mode
-Now you can connect to USB (run updater.exe on computer and drag your .rgn file drop on updater.exe first)
-Updater.exe will detect Nuvi, then press OK to flash a .rgn file
-still press your finger till it finish.

    Before flashing
    - Do hard reset
    - Don't forget to delete .gcd file within .system
    - Rename these folders :: Voice , Text , Keyboards to other name

    After flashing
    - Do hard reset again
    - After flashing and your Nuvi is fine , then you can rename these folders back to original name.

what will get for 3750 to be CHN 3790 v 2.20 (All of asian firmware give you POIS icon on map viewing, but CHN give more)
    - Waypoints symbol on view map page
    - 3D building
    - Terrain view
    - Mp3 player
    - Calendar , Contact

    About Text, Font
    - It depend on which one you will select to use.

About Voice Command , still works.

You can go to original firmware just use US gupdate.gcd
If not, you have to use original US gupdate.gcd to save to .rgn file (without modified) to flash nuvi back to US unit.

    Good luck

PS :: I can't make sure it will work (to go to CHN 2.20., or 2.30) because the fact is
    1). my older 3790T can go to Sg/My 2.20., 2.30 // CHN 2.20 but can't go to Sg/My2.50 and CHN 2.30 and Taiwan 2.10 ., it keeps rebooting loop.

If your 3760 get rebooting., maybe you need to go back US.

Ok, sounds good. Only one thing confuse me. Is there any advantage about .rgn way. Is it not possible to delete the gupdate.gcd under .System and replace it with the new one over usb in one step? What about the SDCard-Way? Will it automatically overwrite the one under .System? When something goes wrong. I would copy the orignal gupdate to .System or by the SDCard-Way.
If I recall your words in the right way it could be possible the device stuck in a loop and there isn't any chance to access the SDCard or the device over usb. The instructions about flashing (hard reset, rename of the folders) only affect me when I use the .rgn way?
I bought a european version is the us/euro version the same?

The updater.exe is the tools that garmin provides with rgn files for different devices? I found a GPS15H_L_440.exe. That I believe is the updater and any special rgn. So if I like to update via updater I need a folder with the updater.exe and my own rgn file.
