If I understand you correctly, you're trying to put Garmin Mobile XT on a Windows CE 5.0 GPS?

Despite the fact you got Garmin Mobile XT working on the GPS receiver with the 480 x 234 screen, Garmin Mobile XT was intended for smartphones and isn't really compatible with the Windows CE 5.0 GPS receivers. Screen sizes in Garmin Mobile XT are limited to 480 x 272 or less. The only way to get XT working on the larger screen is to alter the software to match the device configuration, which varies from unit to unit. If your new GPS receiver is a Chinese model, in general only versions of iGo8 and Route66 intended for larger screens will work. iGo8 and Route66 are usually preinstalled on the devices.

My htc td2/Topaz has 480x800 screen and Garmin Mobile XT (5.00.10wp) runs nicely ... but only with older maps - CN Europe NT 2008. I just had the latest maps installed and now facing problems - Address Search is not working anymore! It asks now for a State (instead of a Country) and it not does not recognize or find any!) Thus I can't find new addresses. With the new 2011-2012 maps I can only navigate to POI-s, Recently Found places and Home. I don't have much hope that upgrading to the latest 5.00.20wp will solve the problem as the -20wp is also from 2008. But I'll try. GM XT also loads slower now.

Any other ideas, suggestions? I wonder if the structure of Garmin detailed maps has changed so much since CN Europe NT 2008 that GM XT can't fully understand it anymore?

I've been running 5.00.20 for two years, ever since I got my WinMo smartphone. I know the current maps work flawlessly in 5.00.20w. The issues you are encountering would occur, unless I'm mistaken, if the GMAP files on the hard drive were created from a compiled .IMG file. In other words, someone took an .IMG file and from it created a MapSource compatible map set. In doing so they stripped all the routing from the maps.

My advice? Download CNEUNT 2012.30 from the Maps forum here on Noeman, then follow the tutorial I have [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to properly unlock the map set as well as the map image created from it. Even if my guess about the source of your MapSource files is incorrect, downloading a fresh copy and going through this procedure may still correct the problem, since your initial download could have been corrupted.

Strephon, You could be right regarding the inadequate unlocking and compilation.

Routing actually worked in City Navigator 2012, but only to addresses already existing in the application. Searching for new addresses didn't work. This CN worked well in Garmin GPS devices. My GM XT usually launches in 7-8 seconds but with the new CN present, it took more than 40 seconds to load! So I put this map aside and tried the combination of my old 2008 CN map and the new local map. Launching time was fast again and the Address Search worked ... but not entirely . I was able to find streets names for the biggest cities only. Had the impression that the detailed map is not searchable. Finally the combination of 3 maps worked for me - my both old maps (City Navigator 2008 as gmapprom and local detailed map as gmapsupp) plus the new local map (gmapsup2). Now everything works . But many thanks for the advice, I didn't expect it so quickly.

Having to abandon the new CN for now is not a big loss as I mostly need the local map anyway, it is so much more detailed. In a few months I'll probably follow your advice and give the CNE another try.

The recorded tracks in Mobile XT 5.00.20w are barely visible. They are way too thin (probably just one pixel wide).
Is there a way to make them thicker (2 or 3 pixel wide)?
Setup: HTC Touch Diamond 2 (480 x 800 pixel) with Mobile XT 5.00.20w on WM 6.5

I have an additional display problem with Mobile XT 5.00.20w on my HTC Touch Diamond 2 (480 x 800 pixel) with WM 6.5.
With some maps (Transalpin 2012 Pro in this Mobile XT screenshot), the labels of some geographic features are barely legible:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The labels read (clockwise from the top): 'Vajolet Pass', 'Rosengarten', 'Catinaccio', 'Laurinscharte'.
In BaseCamp the labels display in a normal screen font and clearly legible.
What determines the fonts used in the Mobile XT display?
How can I change the fonts (to make them more legible)?

I have made numerous efforts to change the display behavior of mountain peak (summit) POI icons in Mobile XT 5.00.20w on my HTC Touch Diamond 2 (480 x 800 pixel, Windows Mobile 6.5), to no avail.

The only way to get the POI icons (and the associated labels) displayed is to search for the mountain peak under 'Where to?' (to create a route to the peak) and then tap the 'checkered flag' route endpoint.
Then the POI icon (and the associated label) is displayed, and it is displayed independently of the zoom level (i.e., no difference, when I go from the 3 km to the 120 m zoom level).
This occurs with both, the Transalpin 2012 and the Austria v3 topo maps, and my attempts to influence this behavior by changing the POI's DrawOrder with TYPViewer v4.0.8 had no effect.

What I am trying to achieve is that the mountain peak POI icons are displayed from a certain zoom level on (ideally from the 300 m level on), so that (when browsing the map in Mobile XT 5.00.20w) I can tap on a peak's POI icon to get its label (usually its name) displayed.
I expected to achieve this by changing the POI's DrawOrder with TYPViewer v4.0.8 (and then use GmapTool to get the modified TYP into the IMG file).

Why does changing a POI's DrawOrder not influence its display behavior in the Transalpin 2012 and the Austria v3 topo maps?
If a POI's DrawOrder does not influence its display behavior (in these topo maps), what does control its display behavior?

PS: I am posting this in the threads for both topo maps, and in some additional threads (in an attempt to increase the chances that someone with the necessary knowledge will see it).
