Default Android app to use custom maps, tracks and routes offline

As I'm a little frustrated looking for a suitable unit I thought I could just as well look for an Android app to do the job?

My question is whether this is possible and works offline: For self-drive tours I have recorded tracks that I like to display, if this doesn't work I thought to resort to transferring routes created in Mapsource / Basecamp along with custom maps.
The reason is that regular maps and routing are very unreliable in our region, they're outdated and will end up on 4wd tracks with a Ford Fiesta... I read that even if you create custom routes by software the unit will calculate them anew. Is this the same for mobile app and can this be prevented?

Thanks so much for your help!

You can get the Android app OruxMaps for free. With OruxMaps you can use OSM maps in Garmin format and you can import waypoints and tracks from Garmin devices or MapSaource/BaseCamp software in gpx format.

Hi Gmupakap, I will try the app on my phone and see how it works out. I read through the description and sounds great. A little setback is missing routing.
I'm only afraid the OSM maps will be insufficient or I can use also every other generic Garmin map? The description says "-.img garmin (vectorial) -no full support is provided-." <- don't know how to evaluate that.

    Thanks!

Mostly it means you can't use Garmin official NT unlocked maps.

Still haven't had the opportunity to test but will use it later.
Any other input is appreciated, thanks again!
