Quick question, does the Viago receive online traffic update or not (I know the software is obsolete) and does it have, like the regular version, the distances for the favorites from the current position ?! thanks

Has anybody tried to copy a legit map and install it on a phone that has the version of the app we can download here?
Just wondering if it would be locked to a specific unit and if so if there would be a way to unlock it.

Lot of confusing and conflicting information here, so let's add to it! OK, this is what I did:

    1. Downloaded víago.v.4007.b.11401013.crk.LVL.Auto.Removed-galonet.apk from post 198.
    2. Installed onto my NON-rooted Samsung S5 with marshmallow. No problems, but files installed on internal storage not ext sd card.
    3. Copied non-routable, unlocked commercial topo map (Oztopo, for Australia) to Garmin folder. Bingo! It worked first time.
    4. Tried it with locked and unlocked legit City Navigator maps - nothing worked.

All I wanted was topo maps for hiking in Australia, so I'm happy. I don't need a Garmin app for driving, though it would be nice to have the option on Android 6.0 (preferably streetpilot).

Only two issues, if anyone can help:

    1. How to install on external sd card not internal (looks like Viago won't do this automatically with marshmallow)
    2. Contours show in feet, not metres, even if metric is selected in settings.

Try renaming the gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img

I used City Navigator South America for PC, I made an installation with mapsource and worked perfectly.

Correct, Viago can show NT maps, but does not calculate routes ...

Tried gmapsupp.img - name is not the issue and any name (like Oztopo3.img) works, if Viago wants it to work. But Viago is a temperamental beast. It likes some maps, not others. Unrouted, unlocked topo maps work for me, when others say that is not possible.

Also, I created a routable map in Mapsource using Garmin Topo Australia & NZ V4 (includes Navteq roads) and that works, and calculates routes, but it doesn't work with V5! I can't work out why one map works and not another. There doesn't seem to be any logic.

Solved, in marshmallow the img map must be on internal memory of the phone, not in sd

    Updated information.

It's possible to have multiple vehicle icons stored on the device, so long as those vehicles do not require a license to use. For example, using the X-Wing Fighter or TIE Fighter from the Star Wars Garmin Packs won't work, but if you create your own SRF file or download one from the coded link below, you can simply copy it into the Vehicle folder and have it function. Renaming is not required.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
I tested this with the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) vehicle offered at the coded link and both this vehicle and the stock arrow appeared.

    Country Codes

A list of country codes can be found at the coded link below. The tactic of using the pulldown menus at the Garmin OSM site apparently no longer works to display these, so it's a good thing the OSM Wiki has a list.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
