I wonder why Garmin doesn't sell that app in Google Play (SP also)? I thinks it's only matter of time when someone prepare it to work on common Android devices...

I can assure you that it will probably not be possible to port the Monterra apps over to our regular android devices..
The Monterra has a re3solution of 272 x 480 and for example my Note 3 has 1080x1920 in resolution..

Resolution hasn't been a problem porting Street Pilot from Asus Padfone 960x540 res to Note, S3, S2 and some Samsung pads. Must just patch libgarminos.so
The problem is woodoo didn't reveal how he cr@cked it and now he's not posting on sosaw forum anymore. See my previous post.

Anyone know of a map this thing uses? I installed it in emulator but it FC after start on powerup routine. Few apps crash on Loading Map...

Edit: It can work with Topo and CN as well. I think crash is not Map related. Hopefully I can spot something in Ida.

I think it was assumed what topo maps have got raster layers or JNX...
Love your wife? Buy yourself a GPS for answering to her favorite question: "Dear, where are you?".

    Hi,
I woould like to revive this old thread. Is anyone interested in Monterra Outdoor app? Is there any progress?

Streetpilot can open Garmin Topo maps, but Streetpilot and Monterra Outdoor are two different apps. Streetpilot is intended primarily for car navigation. The user interface, settings, and the way maps are displayed are adjusted for that purpose. For example, Streetpilot does not show in-built POI on the screen. Streetpilot is like Garmin Nuvi for Android.

I know that most of you guys use Garmin for car navigation. But Garmin also has excellent maps (Topo maps) and excellent hardware (handheld devices like Garmin Dakota, Garmin Oregon) for ooutdoor activity. And Garmin Monterra is one of them - it is designed specifically for outdoor activity (hiking, cykling etc) with TOPO maps. Streetpilot is not very useful for outdoor activity (imagine using Garmin Nuvi for hiking....).

Montera Outdoor app would be very useful for anyone who wants to use his Android phone as an outdoor handheld GPS with Garmin TOPO maps.
