Be aware of ip address 2.21.222.235
If Garmin is allowed to connect you get an authentication failure...
The owner of this ip seems to be Akamai Technologies

Interesting, especially given that both gold.garmin.com and silver.garmin.com are canonical (host)names for e3664.b.akamaiedge.net.

Also--if the app is calling home to Garmin via that exact IP address to authenticate, then that's poor programming on the app developer's part IMHO since what happens if the authentication server's IP address changes and/or the server that has that particular IP address assigned to it goes offline? That, or does someone know what hostname that IP address resolves to? Reverse DNS lookup on that IP address doesn't return a hostname...

Settings -> Navigation -> Transit Types (Public Transportation):

I used a Windows-based plist editor to add the following menu options in Settings seen in my screenshots that IIRC are not visible by default and/or are not available by default if using an "unofficial" version of the Garmin iPhone app version (some of which have already been discussed by others in this thread):

    GPS Simulator
    GPS Log Record
    GPS Log Playback
    Reset MyLocations Database
    Reset Trips Database
    Optimize route for
(Pedestrian section--the Automotive section is shown by default; I was wondering why/how come I did not see any Pedestrian options)
    Public Transportation

My customized plist file settings (settings taken from those already provided by others, so I cannot take credit for finding these settings--all I did was incorporate them into my plist files and fix them up somewhat to correct plist syntax errors):

settings_default.plist--this includes resetting the GPS Log option to default, and also contains the Enable 3D Building View setting that is required in Garmin 2.2 (and above?) or else you'll get the nastygram about not being able to view 3D buildings even though you have a valid gmap3d.img file installed:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

settings_general.plist--contains toggle for GPS Simulator and GPS Log Record options:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

settings_navigation_no_multimodal.plist--I discovered that for whatever reason the Garmin iPhone app Navigation menu settings are actually controlled by this file; it contains settings for Optimize Route For, separate settings for Pedestrian Mode, and Transit Type:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

TargetConfig.plist--contains settings to enable/disable where Lane Assist arrows are displayed, full-screen display of Junction View images in landscape mode, and toggle to select maps if more than one map is installed:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Note--the plist code for the menu settings for GPS Simulator, GPS Log Record, and Reset MyLocations/Trips Database can actually be found in the settings_debug_no_gcs.plist file; I'm not sure how this file is supposed to be accessed by the Garmin app but as others have discovered, simply pulling these settings from the no_gcs plist file and sticking them into the settings_general.plist file causes these settings to actually appear in the Settings -> General menu.

Note #2--I could never get the Hide Coordinate setting (found in settings_general.plist) to display in Settings -> General; any idea on how to get this to work?

Note #3--there may be other settings not shown in my plist files that I chose to either not include (because I have no practical need for them) or that I'm simply not (yet) aware of; all I can say is that these plist files work correctly with my Garmin 2.2 for iPhone app, other than the issue with the Hide Coordinate setting...so I make no promises or guarantees that any of my plist files will work with your Garmin iPhone app.

    Hi Folks,
I am new here, and i need your expert help.
I'm form Argentina and i recently updated to ios 6.1.2. Could you please give me detailed steps to get any version of Garmin working on iPhone 4s ios 6.1.2 jailbroken?
I had USA 2.0 working on 5.1.1 but it seems it no longer works on 6.1.2.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Talking Mods compilation to settings_general.plist

I have made a compilation of all the mods around and some of my own to the "settings_general.plist"

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    I hope you enjoy it!

    Great!

Does anyone know if there is a "setting" to show topo isoheight lines on the maps in meters rather than feet?

What folder is the favorites saved? I use iFunbox and iExplorer and looked and could not find it. All my favorites were deleted when I upgraded from USA_2.0 >USA_2.2
Even worse, 2.2 had major problems. The contact search feature always hung, freezes, the Point of interests would hang too. Im running iPhone 4s, 612 JB ofcourse. Latest updates.
Had to go back to Garmin Street 2.0, using latest maps though 2013.40..all working normal again..just missing favorites..
