Unfortunately, when I try to download from easy-share, everytime I click on "download" it will countdown again. Which is why I would appreciate if the unlocked img can be uploaded on another file-sharing site like Megaupload.

Else, could someone guide me on to do to unlock the locked img that I download from the first post? I already generated the key and created the .unl file but the device does not recognize it.

    Thanks.

I entered the 53DTQ-RNJYC-GPJHV-A7Y4C-68CP4 unlock key into the sendmap20 interface (removed the dashes) and created a single gmapsupp.img file from the many img files in the RoadNavi v2.10 (locked) folder. I then created the gmapsupp.unl file in notepad. I used the Jetmouse keygen with my device ID and the FID and PID numbers for that. I put both files into a Garmin folder on a microSD card. I put the SD card into the Garmin 1370t, turned the device on, and nothing. In Maps, under Info, I only see the preinstalled Europe, US and Canada maps. Can somebody advise what I need to do for my device to see the Japan maps?
(I will now try the unlocked versions from Easy Share). Should I just unrar them and put them on an SD card into a Garmin folder? Do I also need to put in the gmapsupp.unl file specifically created for my device using the keygen?

Alright, looks like I finally got it. The first link to the unlocked versions (part 1) gave a 440 mb img file which works from the SD card on Garmin 1370t.

Try once more with the following method, you should make it.

    Place JapanMap25K to Garmin folder
Click Japan RoadNavi 25000 v2 (Registry)
    Unlock with Mapsource Unlocker

If you use a key info tool on 53DTQ-RNJYC-GPJHV-A7Y4C-68CP4 you will find that it's for UnitID = 0.

    • UnitID: 0
    • Date expire: Never
    • Family ID: 5041
    • Product ID: 22
    • Region ID: 0
    • Vendor ID: 0
    • Product name: Japan RoadNavi 25000 v2

It's quite sure that you don't have UnitID = 0. You must generate a unique key with a UnitID for either your CardID/CID or your GPS UnitID. The best is to generate the key based on the memory card CID if you're using that card in more than one GPS unit.
Some problems could also occur with MapIDs greater or equal to 2200. Newer GPS units with latest firmware might require a GMA digital certificate. In that case use the unlocker instead and use an already unlocked gmapsupp.img file.

Is it possible to edit the unlocked map? For example, I would like to add the road number/name to some of the unnamed/unmarked roads. Most of the Japanese roads actually have a name or number, but it's not programmed on the map. The GPS will say "turn left on Road" or "turn left on Trail" for the roads with no name. Would be nice if I could go in and at least add the road number to the map without creating a whole new one.

Where would I find such a key info tool? Might come in handy when troubleshooting why a map won't work.

The key info tool is in the "Software & Tools" sub section.

That's a very neat and handy tool! On the risk of being reprimanded for drifting away from the original topic: how would one include an expiry date in the unlock code of a map? And does that expiry date make the map unusable after that date, or does it only generate a reminder to update the map when booting up the device after that date?
