Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my question I want to build the *entire* mapset - which is too many tiles. However I know the .IMG file shipping with the T versions of (for instance) the Colorado 400 series include the maps - and do so by using larger tiles. Thus, I'm really looking for an .IMG of this mapset which came from a Colorado 400T or Oregon xxxT or similar unit. I wish Garmin would just offer their customers this choice - I actually have *2* full factory DVDs and licenses for this dataset and am kinda annoyed that I can't load the whole thing due to the small tile size. (Full mapset is under 4GB, but # tiles is 6600-something.)

    Thanks!

Default RE: Reducing the number of map tiles.

    @rsolomon

There's some attempts done earlier to build tools that reduce the number of map tiles in a Garmin mapset. One of the best is done by rwsmith123. The drawback is that the map will be put in "Family" instead of "Product" inside the Windows registry. That makes TYP settings useless.
I've not seen any pre-build TOPO U.S. 2008 with reduced number of map tiles.
No recreational map of US for Oregon 4xxT/5xxT uploaded to public forums, just the map for 400i.

Default Colorado 400t Topo US 2008 IMG

It's huge, can't seem to get Multiupload to take it, and I'm torrent-stupid, so I don't know if this will work or not. (Remove .txt extension) This is the mystical all-in-one IMG of US Topo 2008 which ships with Topo-map US units. Also note the initial seeder may not be up that often, so if someone can snag it and get it on Multiupload, that would be useful I suspect!

I've been searching for a solution to this problem for so long I gave up. I have the torrent loaded and waiting. I will keep my fingers crossed that the uploader goes on line. I will re-post here if I get it downloaded.

You call this the "mystical all in one".....is it all one mapset or just a drastically reduced #?

Did you guys get it downloaded? If so, could someone put it on multi-upload or similar? The seeding machine isn't usually seeding - though I noticed that within a day or so of the initial posting someone got the whole thing. Currently it doesn't look like my side sent another whole copy but maybe that's because other seeders are now up? As I said, I'm Torrent-stupid

Yes, this is the only version of Topo 2008 that I know which allows one to put the WHOLE mapset on a unit - the purchased end-user version has too many map segments/tiles/whateveryoucallem to fit on any GPS I own regardless of memory size.

Could it be your end? There's a seed, but there's no one downloading....

Last week there was some activity then nothing for a few days, thus my earlier posting wondering if anyone else had been successful.

The seed is back! Thank goodness, but seems to be offline or not uploading. Also nice to see 2 offline peers now as well. File is up to 74.4%. Hopefully I can get this soon. Does anyone know of any other trackers for this torrent? Or is there truely only one seeder?

Whats odd, is the seeder will come online - the download starts, then quickly falls to zero while the seeder is still active. Minutes later the seeder goes offfline or stops the upload or something. I have noticed this throughout the whole download. A little frustrating. If I see some downloads active, I just leave my computer on......if I need the bandwidth for other apps, I just limit the bandwidth on the upload. I can't understand why the seeder does what he does......keeping my fingers crossed! I have stopped all other downloads and given full priority to this file w/ computer running 24/7 till I get it!

@rsolomon: are you queud for this torrent as well? I show 0% for uploads and have 74%?

Now there's someone downloading sporadically - he'll pull at 80-100K/sec (probably the upload limit on the seed though) for 5-10sec and then drop off, this repeats as long as I care to watch it. All other seeds are paused and this one is given full bandwidth - just like the other week when someone else pulled the whole thing in one fell swoop. I'm (as I said) torrent-stupid but there's been no change in the seed setup and from my end it looks like an issue on the download side.

Sure would be nice if whomever pulled a full copy the first time could get it on Megaupload or something else (though perhaps it's not just me unable to put it there).

Yep - thats exactly what I'm seeing. I learn if I refresh the tracker with a force start on the torrent; I can get bits and pieces of it. Up to 75% now. I bet the seeder has so many files in his torrent folder that his upload rate (most likely capped at 85-100k like mine) is so diluted that this torrent has a low priority.

Whom ever grabbed this file the other week; sure be nice of them to keep seeding it. I don't think it can be posted on a host site due to its size; but maybe somone can figure it out. This file is 2.63 gigs.
