HELP !!! - I habe a Garmin Nuvi 250w and ive taken the following steps but when i start my garmin it keeps saying "Cant unlock maps"

    Steps ive taken:

    1. Downloaded "gmapsupp.img" (Garmin Cyprus) file and copied directly to the root folder of my Garmin with the other current "gmapprom.img" and "gmapbmap.img" files.

    2. Used the "jetmouse garmin keygen" tool entered my 9 digit unit ID from the bottom back of my Garmin. Then selected "Custom Map" from the maplist and then entered a map ID of "1217" and generated a "map unlock code"

    3. I then used the "garmin_unl creator.exe" to create the "gmapsupp.unl" from my unlock code and then pasted this file also to the root folder where the new .img is on my garmin device.

    4. Started my garmin , i then get the "Cant unlock maps" screen , i then can only see my normal europe map.

    What Have I missed ???
    PLEASE HELP!!

Hey. I have used the "jetmouse garmin keygen" and generated a code for my custom map ID 1217. What do I do with that code? Where do I enter it?

    Thanks

    Default Just Got Mine Working

    Hey Dude,

Look at my post above yours where i outline step by step what i did. This is it step by step. The only error i made was thinink the number on the bottom of my garmin was my UNIT ID , its not you need to go Settings > System > About to get your UNIT ID.

After youve generated the correct key you need to do:

    3. I then used the "garmin_unl creator.exe" to create the "gmapsupp.unl" from my unlock code and then pasted this file also to the root folder where the new .img is on my garmin device.

Once i generated the correct file it worked !!!!

File mu, this is the best map for Cyprus.

I used it week ago when I was there and I will use it again in Septembre, with utmost pleasure (because it is Cyprus).

Only problem is routing, it is routable, but you can not type address and say drive me there, you must find the place on the map and then route it to the selected place. Here and there it makes some stupid stuff like turn left to bicycle path in Limasoll, but otherwise is good.

Anyway, it was 15 yrs since I left Cyprus, and I enjoyed my ten days visit thanks to this map.

    :vac:
