For sure, this is the same old problem. At that time, V4 was so much better than V3 that it was no big deal then. Now, I will have to wait for TYPed versions of V5 before I will switch to V5.
Without the TYPed versions, I will stick to V4, I think.
Smulan did a very good job with V4. On top of that, Smulan hinted about this:

Here are files made for improved readability
    Code:

all cred goes to HMR !

Since then, I have used the V4 map modyfied by one of TYP-files, created by HMR.
Sofar there is no update to this zip-file, covering Sweden V5. Hopefully it will be there, one day.

Here is my new TYP file I created last week.
It reflects my view on how a Topo map should look.

    Characteristics of my TYP files:
    • Main goal is better visibility on a GPS (in my case Oregon 600)
    • White background
    • Large polygons like woods and other vegetation made lighter in order to make trails and polylines better visible
    • Polylines changed from 'Garmin's brown' to light grey
    • All roads on par with Topo France/Germany
    • All water on par with Topo France/Germany/City Navigator

I also created a gmap version of Friluftskartan v5 Pro, if there is interest I will upload it to Zippyshare.

Here is the gmap version of Friluftskartan v5 Pro.
It uses my new TYP file by default.

Put the gmap folder in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\
The map will be available in Mapsource\Basecamp.
Please note that the search index gets lost when a map like this is created from a Garmin img file!

Thanks Mapperoni, I have also made a TYP file in the same style I used for the v4 map. Which one to use is more a matter of taste. Mine looks more like the orienteering maps I am used to look at...
Details can of course be adjusted depending of taste and different gps models.
One can also learn from other TYP files, TYPviewer allows multiple instances to be used so that it is easy to use polys, lines, bitmaps from one TYP into another.

I made an image of v5 (with MapSource...) and copied to my gpsmap64s with FriPro v4 also installed and no problem. Any map can be selected (not at the same time of course) and displays good. The v4 will be deleted once I have used v5 enough to trust it

Found some mistakes the creator of the map has made, here an obvious one:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    From v4

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    From v5

The road became a footpath, I know it is a paved road...

Another complaint is that road barriers are polylines and not POI:s, this makes them more or less dissapear when zooming out and that is when they are interesting to see when planning a route.

I updated the typ file in post 23.
Just replace the old one in the Gmap folder or inside your img with JaWaWa TYPchanger.

    • corrected invisible major contourlines (my fault)
    • Trails are 2px broad now so they are more prominent.

    Hi!

Thx for the upload, works perfectly on my Oregon 650. Is it possible to use this map with either c:geo (android geocaching application), Locus maps or Orux maps? Or any other android application? Is it possible to format the file type to .map?
