Not only Caty! It has done more victims than Second World War (i mean briked devices).
I have just uninstalled and never will use it, and even recommending everybody to do so.
Why Garmin continues to offer it is a mystery.

If the Manifest is coded with bad instructions GE will follow those instructions to the Tee.
The fault is made with the person that gave the instructions to GE ie The Garmin Team.
    I actually LIKE Garmin Express

May be you have never looked at complaints on Garmin Express forum
For sure it's not friendly for average users.

I've been a critic of Garmin's cavalier attitude towards GE for a long time now. I agree with you to a point dasil, there's much to like about it, but i think it may be the way the soft is programmed that's the problem. The concept to be a 'one-stop-shop' is broad which inevitably lays down complexity at it's very essence. It was ambitious, but would have been do-able if they weren't in such an obscene rush to get it out the door. I suspect that the beta-like state of the initial software indicates that its RTM was influenced by senior management and the software honchos cowardly complied, either that or they were too stupid to know that the software was dangerously immature and would brick devices. There was never any intent that it brick devices of course. The fact that it did do that from the start should have been an immediate redflag but instead Garmin [like many large corporations] blamed the users. Sure, some ppl might have unplugged devices while they were being updated but those same *dills would have done that using WU and MU and even the woeful LifeTimeUpdater too. Garmin should have accepted responsibility and pulled GE and 'retooled' it in the early days. I have a deep suspicion there is something inherently wrong at its core which remains a problem in my [uneducated] opinion, but if Garmin's staff simply can't even write the manifest correctly they clearly don't even understand the basics themselves and it's them needing replacement/reprogramming not the software.

*BTW, the users posting in the official forum are likely not 'dills' and also to be a little more experienced than many users of Garmin devices.

    Hello Guys,

Maybe it is off topic, but I would like to ask a question, because I could not find the answer by search.
I am owner of Nüvi 2360. Which of the upper mentioned .jcv files I are suitable for mine device and where to copy them, to garmin/jcv on internal or external sdcard?
The same goes for asr, sid, g2s, and other upper quoted files.

If somebody could point me to same other discussion with these things explained, I would be also very grateful.

    Thank you very much.

For nüvi 2360 use D3048230A.jcv. Place inside hidden \.System\JCV folder in internal memory or in \Garmin\JCV folder on microSD.
