Ok I think I've figured it out. I downloaded the gimgunlock-0.03+MapSigPatch and this time it opened a cmd promt window, I will test the result later.
In the mean time thanks for all your assistance.

First on the above screenshot (top left corner) click Organize > Files and Folders options > View and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types". This way you'll be able to see file extensions like .exe and look for the gimgunlock.exe
This action is very important when working with Garmins, because the extension for Garmin map files is .img and is wrongly taken by windows as an image (picture) file and is hidden.

Which version of gimgunlock did you download? The folder of "gimgunlock up to v.0.03+MapSigPatch" has only one file inside.
Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and download the attached file "gimgunlock+MapSigPatch.zip"

Default Nuvi 13xx and 14xx JCV Version

In times past I would see a JCV file for the Nuvi 13xx and 14xx, but I don't see one now. Did I miss it, or is it not there? Does anyone know which version I should use?

G'day xOIOx, welcome to GPS Power.

Read for future reference: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

For all nuvi 1xxx, any full screen 480x270 pixel picture size JCV file is native for them, however they can also use the 212x234 files meant for split-screen display [other than the one for nuvi xx and Android] but the images will be displayed looking 'washed-out' and stretched to fit the full screen.

Is that 16gb limit confirmed? I have a nuvi 1250 to which Garmin states the max SD size it supports is 8gb but I am using a 32gb with no issues (and the diag registers the full 32gb), they just never bothered to validate larger sizes for at least the 1250.

There is really no practical reason to use larger than 16GB, but the quoted 16GB card size limit is nominal. In fact your 1250 could even use a 64GB or even a 128GB microSD reformatted to FAT32 subject to some 'real world' limitations. The actual reasons 16GB was used as a 'rule of thumb' are (i) the maps have to load on boot increasing the start-up time; and (ii) that you are likely to overload a very large card with too many map FIDs exceeding the limit so some maps then won't be displayed [unlike handheld/outdoor devices however automotive devices don't have a map segments (tiles) upper limit].

Garmin now state that all nuvi series except 295, 8xx and 5000 can use up to a 32GB card. Over the years that recommended limit has been revised upwards for some devices:
