    Please read post #45.
I tested GarminUnlockerAlternativev8.0.1 utility by setting "read-only" attribute for gmapprom.img & was getting exactly the same error as you when tried to unlock the image:

    Writing to file.
    can't open gmapprom.img

Unsuccessfully used gimgunlock.exe 0.3 or image is unlocked already

    After clearing that attribute with
    attrib -r gmapprom.img
in Windows command prompt unlock was successfull:

Unlocking map signature of subfile I1640E56.GMP
    Skipping MAPSOURC.MPS
    Skipping plain subfile BASECAMP.TDB
    Skipping plain subfile I0000FC6.TYP
    Skipping plain subfile CNEURONT.TRF
    Skipping plain subfile 00004038.MDR
    Skipping plain subfile CNEURONT.SRT
    Skipping plain subfile 00004038.MD2
    Skipping plain subfile CNEURONT.SID
    Writing to file.

    successfully used gimgunlock.exe 0.3

Partial maps are easy to create yourself:

    1. Download the "Map source data with .msi installer" version of the map. Part of the download is the *.gmap folder.
    2. Then read: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    3. Scroll down to "Have you downloaded a Gmap folder ?"

By using the PC installable version of the map, you can use MapInstall to create a custom version of the map.

Succinctly, YES. All the information to do this is contain in the Tuts as smokefree gently pointed out by giving some pointers and the vital link [it's the very first entry in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for quite good reason].

Many generous users do make regional maps on request, often even without anyone asking for them. I'm slightly bitter and twisted generally and singularly ungenerous, but even i've done it for ppl.

Thank you very much for your elaborate answer.

My decision regarding posting my request it's not about "How to build"my own map but to dw the requested one ( if someone can help me ).
After hours trying to dw from post 3 I found out that part 3 it s broken and torrent dosn't cover those maps too.

HAve a great day and thank you very much again,

Nothing wrong with Part 3 in Post #3, i've been able to download all 17 rar parts even with my cr@ppy slow adsl connection and have extracted the PC install no problem. Try to dl part 3 again because your first one must be corrupt, my known-good 'PC install.part03.rar' file has MD5 hash of CCD23EA79D1F45E8D1B5CB044D505E10. If you still can't get it down uncorrupted here's mine from Kenta2's zippyshare reuploaded again: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you still have trouble tell me exactly which countries you'd like for the map and approx size you want and I'll make a custom img file for you.

I have downloaded ntu 2017.10 (europe) and tried to install it on my nuvi 30.
Present maps on my nuvi are: NTU 2014.40 and NT 2016.10 (SD-card).

First attempt with full europe image (3.9gb)
I could not copy it to my 4GB SD-card. The image is visible in Basecamp so the image is ok.
I copied the image to a 8gb SD-card. Also no luck. I think that my nuvi cannot work with SD-cards lager then 4gb.

Second attempt with western europe image (2.9gb)
I could copy it to my 4GB SD-card and it was visible in basecamp,
My nuvi does not recognize the image.

So I have an image that is visible in basecamp but not on my nuvi.

    Is this a normal situation?

Correct. A 4 GB SD (or microSD) only has space for 3.725 GB worth of data (4 * 10^9 / 2^30).

Not correct. Your nüvi 30 is capable of reading microSD cards up to 32 GB. See here:

Depends. Where on the microSD did you place the map file (in the root or in a folder?) and what name (including file extension!) does this file have?
