Extract the 3 parts by using an appropriate application like WinZip, WinRAR or 7zip. You'll end up with the gmap3d.img file. Make sure it is unlocked (if not already) and place it in the same folder as the navigation map file. For more information, see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I fail to understand what this has to do with the gmap3d.img file.
    Please be more specific.

    1. Download the unlocked "Map source data with .msi installer" version of the map. The download contains the *.gmap folder.
    2. Then read: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    3. Scroll down to "Have you downloaded a Gmap folder ?"

By using the PC installable version of the map, you can use MapInstall to create a custom version of the map, selecting exactly that part of Europe that you need. Not only is it way easier than you think, it's fun and rewarding as well!

Your nuvi firmware has to be patched to use unlocked maps, read this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
But check your garmindevice.xml and the HWID (HWID must be the right one or you brick it!):

You have to navigate to get to the good.

I copied the foursquare D4935080A.img and D4936080A.sid files into a Nuvi 55 Garmin directory after I unlock them with gimgunlock. But I don't get any search results with foursquare. Shouldn't it work as it's just an img file on an not officially compatible gps?

Nuvi 55 does not support the feature foursquare-pois-search - see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    or Garmin support link:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
You can use foursquare *.img (without *.sid) only like a traditional poi .
