    Well, maybe you should read some of the tuts again carefully because you apparently didn't read my previous post correctly or maybe it was confusing to you too[*] (btw, it don't agree any tuts are 'contradictory' but if you give those instances [by posting in those threads and cross-referencing or by using the report button on the suspect post] then one of us will fix the problem). As for 'confusing', maybe some advanced tuts are hard-going if you are struggling with basic knowledge but again, tell us and we'll fix them if it's feasible]. As for my info before, maybe i just wasn't clear enough with 'blah,blah' because 2xx9 can use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [and truckdown but if you don't drive a heavy vehicle then the latter isn't very useful of course]. Other than that i haven't checked you've got the exact right files. I did tell you how to check earlier though so follow that ["Give a man a fish ... etc"]. If we start giving individual mini-tuts in map threads then they become flooded so if you have any further specific queries regarding file placement then post in the relevant threads elsewhere.

    * Another Hint:

    Yes, Foursquare can be used but I do not think I will use it. You are again correct about Truckdown; no use for me.

    Not sure on your SRD comment since the file in my case is an SRX and according to some tutorials I read it can be in the SD:\Garmin\ASR folder? Am I confused on this?

    WRT to the tutorials: For a newbie like me they are very confusing as I do not know if they would apply to my Nuvi model or not. Some Tuts seem to be for all and some for older models only etc.. Its a lot of work, but maybe a page for each Garmin model series listing only the Tutorial links that are applicable to that model series. Just a suggestion to make it easier for newbies like me to ignore tutorials that are not for my model and possibly avoid bricking the unit in the process.

    Thanks for your patience and I fully understand you recommendation that I read through the tutorials - ["Give a man a fish ... etc"].

    The .srx files can indeed go in the SD along with the .asr files. Both are specific to a particular map version. The only point of my 'hint' was that .srd language files will not work in SD however putting them in there with the other files is a common mistake by new Garmin users of Voice Command capable units.

    Thanks for your suggestion however there are far too many Garmin devices. A page for each, although ideal, is not really practical.

    @Pkcayenne
    Download the locked PC Install version from ZippyShare links in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], no popups or hijacking there even if you have no adblock, you can then unlock it yourself in seconds with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Make the map img you require from the gmap folder with MapInstall. You can unlock a locked img file with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in mere seconds too.

    Did you see post #2? If it is only the USA you need, download the PC Install version and create your own map with MapInstall. More information here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    To avoid clutter, please don't leave any "Thank You" posts but use the Xlosbkb button or the LIKE this post ↑ link instead
    (found at the lower left hand side of any post)
    To see hidden download links, use the same LIKE this post ↑ link and hit F5 on the keyboard to refresh the page.
    Report broken download links by using the ADYp6au button at the lower left hand corner of that post.

    for those of you with issues with the map not running. double check the name.. my kenwood device requires gmapsupp.img
    and I didn't notice the extracted file was gmapprom.img .. looks close but not the same and will not run.
