And perhaps an obvious thing, but did you enable all 5 maps on your Oregon?

The total of mapsegments for Oregon 600/650 is about 4.000. But it's the total of mapsegments on internal memory+sd. You can do a check with JaVaWa Device Manager.

Thank you for that. I didn't know about JaVaWa before. After all five images didn't work together I tried just two OS regional images and a Freizeitkarte (OSM) instead. The latter didn't show up in the Oregon or on Basecamp (mac) - just like the other 3 OS images! Using JaVaWa showed 2 maps in 3 files on the SD card

So segment limit nowhere near. I did notice the 3 errors but there's no info on these. Faulty 64gb SD? Have reformatted SD card several tim

All three images show up when I click on Manage maps

How did you format the SD card?
Not sure if this has anything to do with your problem but formatting a 64GB SD card for use in a Garmin requires some attention:

Thanks for your help. Useful info I'd missed. I didn't know that but, as It happens, I first formatted as ExFat by chance on my mac, could see no files at all, so formatted as Fat32 which obviously led to my problems of only seeing two images. I'll try the first again tonight with fingers crossed or buy a smaller 16 gb SD card.

Your 64GB card should work on the Oregon 650 if formatted correctly.

Interesting - it should! It doesn't, at least not formatting as Garmin suggests in post 24, with ExFAT and Master Boot Record, as absolutely no images show up.

I bought a 16Gb card and formatted it as MS-DOS (FAT) and MBR and all 5 of the map images showed on my Oregon - so problem solved. So thank you all for your help.

It just leaves a puzzle in my mind as to why my mac with El Capitan OSX can't seem to format a 64GB SD card that Garmin is happy with. Would try a PC to format it but don't have one and emulation would probably use the same engine.

Some perhaps relevant info and comments: Never use a Mac's built-in tool to format in FAT16 or FAT32 for Garmin devices or even for media cards used in them. Not sure about exFAT with Mac, but there more than one way to format in FAT and even the Windows built-in tool is sometime not up to it. For SD cards it's safest to use only this:

Are you certain that Oregon can read exFAT? The exFAT format implies an SDXC card, but they can also be re-formatted in FAT32 to mimic SDHC cards. Again it's important to do that correctly and i've found this to be the most reliable:
    Code:

In the Garmin knowledge base screenshot shown in initial post of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], Oregon 600/650 (t) are said to be able to use a micro SDHC 64GB maximum sized card. SDHC implies FAT32 formatting. I'm aware that Monterra needs to have 64GB cards reformated to FAT32 to use them, maybe it's the same for Oregon?:

Which is the limitation to the SD/microSD card size for Garmin devices ?

The garmin Table from the above link seems to be outdated, since latest firmware updates both my Garmin Colorado units recognise at least 16gb cards. I have all 5 Premium Discoverer maps on 1 16gb card formatted to FAT32. All maps recognised without a problem. The Colorado isn't on the compatability list either, but works flawlessly with these maps.
