    @gpsdudez
    From the 'Coverage' tab of the info link kindly provided in the initial post: "Includes full country coverage of China with complete intertown road network. Does not contain coverage for Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan."

    You need the shifted-corrected Venus version if running TH fw. See post #2.

    Is there a way of splitting the img file from post#2 in two separate img files without loosing search and routing capabilities? My GPS cannot handle maps larger than 2 GB....

    What is your gps? Very few nuvis with the latest firmware actually cannot handle 2gb maps.

    I have a GPSmap60csx. I think I can go past the 2GB micro SD card limit with the most recent firmware but I think we cannot go beyond the 2 GB max size for a map. I wish the map would have been posted in 2 sections. I am a iGO guy for car use and Garmin when in the bush. We are going to China(specifically Shanghai) in 2 months and am trying to get a corrected China maps in case we get lost. I would prefer to use IGO on my cell phone (much smaller) but the maps available were old. I would like to get the map for Shanghai and the surrounding area as we will be doing day trips out of town. I am aware of the pitfalls of loading the img file to Mapsource.

    As of FW version 3.90, the GPSmap 60CSx is capable of using map files larger than 2 GB. Latest FW version to date is 4.00.

    You are right. The 2GB barrier has been removed since V3.90. I am currently at 4.00 and I was not able to load the map. I have only in hand 16GB, 8GB and 2GB micro SD cards. I copied the map on the 16GB and the 8GB card and in both instances, the GPS locked. I had to remove the batteries. I thought it had to do with the map size but it could be with the micro SD card size.
    What is the max size for micro SD cards?

    edit: went to Garmin.com and found 2 different pages. one stated 2GB max for micro SD Card and the other 4GB. I'll have to find a 4GB to test this.
    edit2: Well despite garmin's info, the 16 GB is detected and the map size is shown in the card info screen. The problem is that the GPS locks about 10 seconds after the map is detected. I'll have to check how many segments the file has.
