Please post back if this full screen JCV works on your nüvi 2300.
If you're able to post a screenshot would be even better!

I will do so as soon as I get my hands on that Nuvi again. My ex colleague has since left for a road trip and will only be back in about 2 weeks' time.

Have a look here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and scroll down to:
    - Have you downloaded a Gmap folder ?
    - Have you downloaded an IMG ?
    - How to see an img in Basecamp ?

You don't install an IMG file, you place the gmap folder on your computer and make an image from that. Get the gmap folder from the PC Install version in initial post.

From the very first Tut listed in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [i.e. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]]:

    copy it in:
    (in XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps) or
    (in Vista, Windows 7/8 - C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps)
    (in MAC OS
    /Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps/)
You'll have your map in Mapsource or Basecamp/MapInstall.
Look here for software tools for Mac: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
