    gmapprom.img

Warning! Use of gmapbmp.img naming is for the basemap only, never use it for a detail map. gmapsup2.img naming doesn't work in 2x5 etc.

Useful detail map naming in 2x5/W and related hardware is:
    gmapprom.img: internal only, (primary mapset)
    gmapprom1.img: internal only (secondary mapset)
gmapoem.img: internal only (rarely used and only useful for some map types of small size, example is for dealer POIs)
gmapsupp.img: internal or SD (supplemental mapset)
gmapsup1.img: SD only with firmware V7.60> (2nd supplemental mapset).

All detail maps reside in Garmin root folder of unit or SD. See: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Now is working.
Just put the name gmapsupp.img before placing it on the sd card.
If you put the name gmapsupp.img after being on the card it does not work , I do not know why but it was the reason .
    thanks for your help.
    best regards.

Hi everyone, which JCV file should I use for a Garmin nuvi 55, D2504190A.JCV or D3084160A.JCV?

Right now I have a file named D3479160B.jcv inside the .System\JCV folder which is part of the City Navigator North America NT 2016.10 map.

My guess would be D3084160A.JCV, just by looking at the first two characters of my file name (D3...). But I want to be sure.

    Thanks in advance...

gmua, for your device it is better to use NTU version - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and D3589160A.JCV
Use the latest firmware for your device.

Hi victor777, by reading the post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I was under the impression that the nuvi 55 (with firmware 4.50) could not use unlocked NTU maps.

I guess I misunderstood the information a little bit.

Any suggestions where to get D3589160A.JCV?

    Best regards...

Update: I found the file, thanks.

NT maps unlocked with gimgunlock-0.03+MapSigPatch are not accepted on nüvi 55/56/65/66 when using FW 4.30.
They will be accepted however by FW before 4.30 or by the currently latest versions 4.40 and 4.50.
See notes in post #256 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
NTU maps unlocked with gimgunlock-0.03+MapSigPatch unfortunately will not be recognised, regardless of FW version.

Hello smokefree, that is exactly what I understood, so I tried using D3084160A.JCV inside the external SD folder Garmin/JCV (I'm using CN Europe NT 2016.10) but I still can't see the pictures of the interchanges like in the example in UK Kent - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] that catymag posted.

I'm going to try with the other file D2504190A.JCV and see if that does it.

    Thanks...

Unfortunately a jcv file for nuvi 55 is not available for CNEU NT map.

Oh, that's really bad news catymag, and at the same time is strange that Garmin included one for CN North America NT 2016.10 and not for Europe.

I was able to simulate the several routes with the North American maps and they do show the interchanges like in the following image:

CNNA is NT, nuvi 55 uses and gets EU NTU from Garmin Express, so it's normal jcv doesn't exists for NT version.
