So the two files I was trying to use (D2504190A.JCV and D3084160A.JCV) are for other units that use City Navigator Europe NT 2016.10 ??

Both of those are for units which can use full-screen Vector image JCV files. All nuvi series xx from 3/4/50 onwards including your 55 can't use Vector format, only Raster format JCV files will work and as has been said Garmin do not make that type of JCV file for NT Europe maps, only for NTU. In other parts of the world such as NA/SA/AU etc which have NT as OEM for nuvi xx the raster files are available for them.

I think I finally got it, the raster file (D3479160B.jcv) when opened with ImgTool shows only PNG files and the size of each file is about half the size of the screen.

And when I open the vector files (D2504190A.JCV and D3084160A.JCV) they contain JPG, PNG and SVGZ files, the SVGZ file uses the JPG, PNG and some Text to construct the full screen size image.

Same type of file, but very different content.

    Thanks...

gmua, if you want to use JCV on Europe map follow steps 1 and 2 from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and use D3589160A.JCV.
Install the latest firmware on your device.

Cnfhbr wrote about temporary authentication in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], and he points to the same post from catymag than you do, I would definitely give it a try.

    Thanks...

Actually, victor777 and smokefree between them in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] here had already pointed you towards that information regarding workaround for NTU use. The info and links are all there in the posts either directly or indirectly. Not so easy for newer members to find it all, maybe we need a dedicated Tut thread .....

I completely agree, but I'm a fast learner

I got may hands on the City Navigator NTU 2016.10 Italy & Greece Original Locked Maps, thanks to Roger (It was faster than downloading the full Europe Map).
