    Correct path is SD/Garmin

Is your nuvi part n.006-B2077-00 ? If yes maps cannot be unlocked with unlockers for your device.
Your device should have lifetime maps updates, run Garmin Express and update it.

That's not the UID or HWID in question for 2xx7/8 units. Look in the unit's Garmin folder for GarminDevice.xml and open it in a web browser or text editor like WordPad or NotePad. Search for <Model><PartNumber>006-B at the start of the file, the four numbers following are the UID/HWID. You will see either 1582 [yah!] or 2077 [bummer!].

catymag's reply above was from her phone, she may not have noticed the part number you quoted because of the small screen. This is her info from Post #256 in gimgunlock thread and it's also reproduced in the initial post there: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

I haven't yet understood if he has a 2599 or a 2577 because he says he owns a 2577 but he posted .xml info from a 2599.

I assumed he was just quoting from almayer's recent post in the gimgunlock thread:

    <SoftwareVersion>750</SoftwareVersion>
    <Description>nüvi 2599</Description>

I've read all the thread, am I correct in assuming right now there's no chance to hack this into accepting other maps, or the gimgunlock could work for this purpose?
    Thanks for your help
    But maybe not.
