I agree with Mapperoni. MapInstall creates a mapset with dif maps the best possible way but you can't route from one map to the other. It only helps with device's map naming problem so the user can have more maps available.

In the unlikely event you wish to route across from one map to another, swap them out as needed. Create any such routing in stages to and from the actual boundary of each map. Multiple routes can be saved, up to 50 routes i think is possible with zumo5x0.
    This is exactly my point.
It's impossible to calculate a route between two different map products. The solution is easy and already given by Neil: create a route to a point nearby the border, switch maps and create a new route on the other side of the border. It's a good habit anyway to avoid routes that are too long with maps like these because they are using small roads and the GPS will not be able to calculate that much data!

I just checked the Onroute forum and immediately found posts about this subject: creating a route between Austria (DACH map) and Italy (FR-IT map) is impossible.

That's why I want to create ONE image with all maps inside to put on the SD card using GmapTool.
Still okay to use GmapTool for THAT purpose ?

@Mapperoni that's clear no route planning cross border like Austria into Italy. This is also not why I'm trying to create one image file.

@mollex How did you create OMK 3.04 Europe.img (3.84 GB) Can you share a step-by-step plan. Thanks.

You already have them i suppose, so you can join all the img files with GMAPTool if you wish [i wouldn't use them if they were made by MapSource though]. Seeing you have the PC Install version already i'd personally prefer to generate one complete image file using MapInstall. It's quite intuitive to use [you even don't need to open BaseCamp first unless you wish to also send routes] and you can get further help from the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], in particular: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
It's just better to use the Tuts rather than individual 'step-by-step' be posted in map threads .

To save others a bit of time; be sure to use UnLock MapSource Directory v5.0 (19.09.2014) available on this site to unlock the maps. Older versions will not work.

I was able to merge with a patched MapInstall the Onroute maps of BNL-DACH-DEN with FR-IT into one gmapsupp.img on a SDHC-card (version 3.83 installed in patched Basecamp 4.5.0 and unlocked with Jetmouse keygenerator).
In MapInstall, I simple selected first the BNL-DACH-DEN, selected the whole area , then switched to the FR-IT map and selected the whole area and did send the 2 areas to a SDHC-card.
I copied the map onto my hard drive and renamed it gmapsup1.img and transfered it onto the µSD card of my Zumo 660 (I preferably keep gmapsupp.img for the City Navigator NT Europe map on the µSD-card).
It shows up as expected in the Zumo, and I could deselect or select both areas (BNL-DACH-DEN or FR-IT).

However with this new edition there's not much changed concerning long distance destinations you would like to have a route calculated for: 70-80 km still works ( even if you cross the 2 areas BNL-DACH-DEN and FR-IT) but longer distances (+/-150 km) it still can't calculate a route towards it.
