I recently drove a city car using Nuvi 1250 in Jakarta. Compared to other drivers in Jakarta, I always drive slower, not more than 60 km per hour in the toll road. But, most of the time, I missed the toll exit because, Nuvi 1250 was too late in displaying the next toll exit on the screen, sometimes less than one hundred meter. Does it mean that I drove too fast, or the newer map is too complex for old Nuvi 1250?

1xxx are no more inaccurate than other automotive units of that era even with the modern larger more complex CNs. With all GPS automotive units you do need to be driving mentally a little ahead of yourself. It helps to also have a passenger-navigator to watch the GPS in a strange city of course, particularly in somewhere like Jakarta where the locals are all trying to kill each other and vying for 'the posthumous most-over-the-speed-limit title', but seriously at under 60 klicks unless you drove in the break-down lane it's a wonder you didn't end up as a heavy truck's hood ornament. ~100 m accuracy is appalling if your assessment is correct. Mostly 1xxx can achieve 15 m accuracy even in cloudy weather or with a few high buildings around.

You are right, Nuvi 1250 is very accurate in the city. But while driving on the toll road using the recent map, I missed the toll exit too often. I think I should consider upgrading to a better GPS unit.

If the nüvi 1250 is accurate in the city, it can be expected to be equally accurate outside the city. My gut feeling says the map itself may not be very accurate as far as the exact location of the toll exit is concerned...

That's a good gut call SF. As far at the satellite accuracy is concerned it's less likely to be good in the city where the satellite signal is partially blocked or distorted by the surrounding buildings. At your low speed karwagnr [~60kph] the GPS refresh rate is not a problem on the open road either so if the map's not inaccurate then maybe the unit is lagging. Try [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to see if performance improves. If it doesn't, try another map such as [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or Open Street Maps:
