Update: Nevermind, unplugged it and plugged it back in and it now reads the correct free space. Installing maps now. Also Neil, I have to turn my virus protection off to use mapunlocker, otherwise it gets quarantined as soon as I try to run it. Maybe you ought to check just to make sure.

I'm trying to get GMPC up and running.

I've tried the "Unlocked IMG Canada, Alaska + Border States" map in post 2 of this thread and GMPC seems to recognize it OK. In fact, when searching for an address, detailed maps come up. But in the standard map view, there are no maps displayed and it gives me an error that no detailed maps are loaded.

So I'm a little confused. I guess I have a base map, but there are detailed streets for my location in the search but not the "map view". I'm in the process of grabbing the CN N America 2015.30 to see if that does anything.

MPC doesn't show maps greater than 2g.

I hope you're getting the PC install version, that way you can make your own image keeping it under 2GiB and then GMPC will see it.

I'm not sure what I've got. The more posts I read, the more confused I get.

It looks like what I have is CNNA201520 which is a 1.85GB IMG file titled gmapsupp.img.

Copying this file into the Garmin Mobile PC folder causes the application to error on launch. I also have gmapbmap.img which is 966MB in the same folder.

    Thanks.

Are you sure that's the size of your basemap [gmapbmap.img]? 966MB is huge. Maybe you have some other detail map image saved as the basemap, check what it is with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You can see various basemaps here, scroll down to 'World and Basemaps' but don't choose a World map, they aren't basemaps.

A map of 1.85GB is under the FAT16 file size limit of 2,147,483,647 bytes whether that's 1.85 Gigabytes [decimal] or Gibibytes [binary] so the size isn't the problem. If you don't have a proper basemap then replace it and check your gmapsupp.img in GMAPTool as well to ensure it's not faulty and also unlocked [or just run [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] on it to be sure it's unlocked.

The name gmapsupp.img is ok with any version of GMPC, see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

My guess is you have a faulty map or it's duplicated by an earlier version named as gmapbmap.
