Seems that the files in post #3 are OK. I used RAR Extract Frog program to unpack; I unpacked part 1 with no problems, the resulting file is named gmapsupp.img and is 2,878,336 KB.

Excuse the newb question...when I try to unpack the other files, it states the file gmapsupp.img already exists. Do I need to unpack all or is unpacking part 1 all I need to do?

Also, is the next step to place the .img file into the GPS' file system? (will probably need a micro-SD, as I don't have the space available in my GPSMap78SC).

There is already a file in my GPS' file system named gmapsupp.img, size is 214,888 KB. Not sure if this is from the factory or from another map I recently installed (Florida topo).

Other img files in my GPS are

    gmapbmap.img - 49.808 kb
    gmapprom.img - 1,941,952 kb
    gmaptz.img - 604 kb.

So, there are 4 img files in my GPS, but when I go through the map selections in the GPS, it shows 5:

    Worldwide DEM Basemap
    US Marine Detail g2
    Florida topo
    Digital Globe
    USGS Quads

Not sure how this works...isn't each .img file a mapset? If so, how do I have more maps to choose from than .img files?

MANY thanks for everyone's assistance and patience.

    Homeport can display locked BC.
As you can see from GmapTool log in my post it's locked original file.
To unlock drag&drop the img in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    it needs few seconds

    I'm getting closer...

Got the img file and dragged/dropped to the gimgunlock.exe file - all seemed good; saw the script running, etc.

Copied that img file onto a brand new SanDisk 8 GB micro SD, popped it in my GPSMap78SC and when I go to select maps, I don't see anything new. Same maps from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]that are loaded into the internal memory.

    Worldwide DEM Basemap
    US Marine Detail g2
    Florida topo
    Digital Globe
    USGS Quads

As far as I can tell, the memory card was seated properly; I removed and replaced it many times.

    Ideas?
