did you create a "GARMIN" folder on the SD card first, then put the map into it?

Not at first, but now, yes and still not showing up in the list of available maps to enable/disable.

Is there any indication that the unlock process was successful?

and in case you or someone is looking all over for the latest Gmaptool as I did, here it is:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Checked mine now and it's says just "transparent" and "locked" is gone, so that's what you're looking for.

Just for a try, put the Garmin folder with the map in it on a thumb drive, put it in your computer and try Homeport, now free , to see if it finds it. As I was told here, Homeport will show a locked file as well, plus you will know if your files are set up right then.

Inserted the micro-SD in a standard SD adapter; popped it in the computer...launched homeport, it shows Devices > memory card > untitled.

The file structure on the micro SD is a folder named Garmin and inside it, a file named test.img.

When I launch Gmaptool, I click Add files; navigate to the micro SD and add the test.img file.

I click Info button and the following is output:

    Program start.

    ====================================================================
    Reading file E:/Garmin/test.img.
Bad data in LBL subfile, file E:/Garmin/test.img.

    File: E:/Garmin/test.img, length 2947416064
    File format errors (4)
    Header: 05.08.2014 15:33:06, DSKIMG, XOR 00, V 16.00, Ms 0
    Mapset: HXUS039R-US All & Canadian West Coast g2 v2014.5

There were errors, result is faulty.

    End.

Looking for latest version of g2 Bluechart HXUS039R "All of US".

I think the last version on here was 2014.5 v16.
