You don't need to convert anything, put the img in a Garmin folder in an sd and start Basecamp, or use a virtual drive (you can find the thread about it in Tutorials Index) it will show in sidebar under "Devices", rightclick "Open"
Gmaptool splitted versions for Mapsource/Basecamp don't have search enabled. Gmaptool cant convert MDR file from the map.

Is it now possible to install parts of a map to my gps if I use a virtual drive, like it was possible in mapsource, or must I copy the map totatally what I not prefer?

No virtual drive is like a gps clone (if it contains your nuvi garmindevice.xml) or its sd clone, Basecamp reads the img like it was already present in sd inserted in your device.
To send parts of the CN to your device you must install pc version and use Mapinstall to build your map. This is the only way to have fully working map parts in gps.

Additionally, it was not possible to do in MS either what you're now wanting to do in BC/MI using a GMAPTool split [simple preview] map without losing search function, if that's what you meant by this:

    Hi,

Does this map work with new devices?
I have searched the map index for special patched maps for new devices and found none.

    Thanks

Indeed, this was what I meant because City navigator europe NT is 3.4gb.
I don't need most of the time cards of hole Europe! Only a few countries on my outdoor gps.

In that case you are either totally missing the point of, or have misunderstood what catymag has told you about using MapInstall to select parts of the map from the PC Installed version [gmap folder]. That way you can select only one or a few countries, or indeed just part of one country or even only one single map tile to send to your device. In the example below Kristiansand, Norway:

And in that case the resulting map image file will only be ~17MiB in size. You could select dozens of tiles selected from all over the map if you wanted. There is absolutely no need to load the entire map image, or try to split an existing image using GMAPTool.

    Hi,
What could be the reason if the downloaded unlocked UK map is readable by Nuvi765 but not 50LM ?

Be it on SD or internal of 50LM. It shows can't unlock map.

    Thanks

If you have *.unl/*.gma files on the 50 from an earlier map version then back them up and delete them off the unit.
