Caty means that quite literally, 'you need NTU map and NTU additional files'. JCV files are totally map dependent, the JCV from an earlier NT won't work with this 2015.20 NT.

Thanks for the reply’s folk, But I could clearly see there was a significant difference in file size between the two files after downloading them, What was actually throwing me slightly being relatively new to Garmin
Was the actual naming of the two files, Was kind of hoping there was a typo on the picture size 480*270 in the file named JCV full screen & that it would actually be full screen images, because that would have looked absolutely awesome on a 7” screen

A bit Like this image [full screen]

    moww3

Rather than what i seem to be seeing [Split screen]

    2v2fhfq

Note: images taken from the internet

Anyway thanks all for clearing my question up

But I think in future the files would be better worded like, JCV Full & JCV trimmed [for them that’s short on storage space]

The above got me interested. I assume you're using this map and the jcv file in your DNX7230DAB. The Kenwoods usually use the same ancillary files as 34xx/35xx which means using the split-screen 212*234 picture size jcv which of course isn't available to this non-unicode map.

You're saying quite plainly that the 480*270 is displaying in the KW as a splitscreen view as exampled by the lower pic from the internet. Could you be more specific as to how it's showing? i.e. is it shrunk proportionally to display the entire image, or is the image cropped back? e.g.:

    (1) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or (2) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The above are 212*234 (1) shrunk and (2) cropped proportional representations of this full screen 480*270 image from EU 2015.20:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

My experience with a nuvi 3590 loaded with non-U EU and full screen 480*270 jcv result in this (simulating a route on M6 to Manchester in UK):

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] However, the unit gets a little confused when scrolling thru the route because when it shows the immediate next jc view it shows as split screen, but then subsequent upcoming views on scrolling show full screen:

First this: 448501 Then this: 450172

That’s correct i am currently using this MAP & JCV file # D2504170A running from a SD Card on my DNX7230DAB & its displaying split screen junction views on simulation

Think i am seeing images shrunk proportionally rather than images that are cropped back.

Quick Question : Should i actually be using NTU Maps if you can’t get 212*234 .JCV files for the NT maps

Note : Also your attachments @ the bottom of post # 29 Attachment 112158 & Attachment 112159 are not showing up for me

    Update :

    2w1w4t0

^^ The above image is taken from the pre loaded 2013 maps the unit came with

    zuldtd

^^ This image is from the maps & jcv file from NT 2015.20 off the SD card

Yes, that's correct but the signboard is compressed as in my lower LH image in the simulation 'scroll thru'. Strange that my 3590 shows in full screen while navigating.

Quick Question : Should i actually be using NTU Maps if you can’t get 212*234 .JCV files for the NT maps
Yes, that's almost certainly the best solution for you even though your KW can use both maps equally well for navigating. Your 2013 OEM map was the unicode version and that's the best map for you even though non-latin isn't a problem for you in UK. At least you'll be able to see the signage clearly and i doubt you'll pick the lower resolution in the split-screen image. There's other advantages too, the NT D2504170A fullscreen has 80,874 pictures compared to the NTU D3048160A split with 83,000 pics., many of those will be birdseye views lacking in the NT. Then there's file size, NT 655 MiB compared to the NTU at only 374 MiB.

    jcv compare

Yeah, too many attachments i think. Added them as outside links now, thanks.
