Hi everybody!
I'm just letting you know that links are dead in post #15...
Thank you for your work :-)
Comparing Topo TransAlpin 2012 Pro (V3) with the new Topo TransAlpin V4 Pro, it seems that Garmin has actually removed the bike routes!!! Probably these are licensed and they didn't wanna spend the money!
Big disappointment!!! Will stay with V3 (2012) for the moment. (view the screenshots)
P.S. Just checked Austria V4 Pro vs Austria V3 the same here V3 has bike/mtb roads/trails shown the new V4 does NOT!

Hi everybody!
I'm just letting you know that links are dead in post #15...
Thank you for your work :-)
Hi, This is my first post on gpspower and there seem to be some great resources and tools here. I am trying to use Garmin TransAlpine v4 PRO on an iMac. I downloaded the 4 (locked) .rar files, unzipped them into a single file (with its separate scq file) and then dragged the gimgunlock icon and the single Garmin file into Terminal before hitting enter. Terminal seems to complete the operation by "writing to file".
My first question is where this file has been written to. Has it just overwritten the locked file in the same folder?
I then connect the GPSMap 62s to the computer, drag the .img file to the Garmin folder on microSD card and open Basecamp 4.2.4.The .img file appears on the microSD, Basecamp appears to be opening it by reading it, but it then disappears from the list of maps on the microSD card.
Please can you tell me what I am doing wrong. Many thanks.

Gay ngllgn, welcome to GPS Power.
Mac doesn't handle things quite the same as Windows [call me Capt Obvious ok]. Find a friend with a PC, even an old slow XP clunker will do fine and then do the unlock of the locked file again with gimgunlock+mapsigpatch. The original file is 'unlocked', gimgunlock doesn't keep a BAK file so you need to make a back up of it first if you want to archive the locked file.

Hmm. I didn't download the mapsigpatch for the unlocking operation on the Mac, but perhaps it is only for PCs. I will try and find a friend with a PC, but if I have to do that every time it may reduce my use of the iMac.
I understand that the original file is probably unlocked and overwritten on the Mac. Do you think that will have happened, and without mapsipatch?
You probably have a PC. What is the BAK file you refer to? Is it the original locked file, and does bak refer to a .bak suffix i.e. file type or does it just refer to a copy of the original (or perhaps the original itself)?
Finally, in the gimgunlock folder (for Macs) that I downloaded, there are two files, "gimgunlock" (which is the one I used to (try and) unlock the .img file), and "gimgxor", which I have not used yet. Do you know what that latter file is for?
gimgunlock for Mac is old you need the latest gimgunlock+ mapsigpatch (Windows only) for these latest signed topo maps, so install virtual Windows on Mac (recommended if you want to use "free" stuffs ) or get a pc.
a .BAK file is a backup file left by some programs when you modify the original file.
gimgxor: Some maps have been scrambled by a trival XOR algorithm. They do
not work with other gimg* tools. You can use gimgxor to unscramble them.

Oh dear. I have never used a PC, Windows or Virtual Windows.
I have looked around this website for the latest version of gimgunlock plus the mapsigpatch. Is 0.03 the latest version for Windows? There are so many references to different versions, some with the mapsigpatch, some apparently broken, others not, that I am now totally confused as to which post or link I should try and download from. I have been to gitbhub.com and found something called gimgunlock.c with a lot of code which means nothing to me. I have also "liked" one post but then found no link to the gimgunlock executable.
Sorry, but I need some more help here.

I promise I had already had a look at post 256 but was fooled by the headline reference to 0.03 and the zipped file being called just .0.
