    @jensmand;

    I don`t hear that this pack, or any other version of it, not work (only by exception, and there are a long time ago).

    What I hear and what I say about it is the non-sense of join these maps, because is better update each map separated as any advanced user do!
    (this matter were exhaustively discussed in: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] )

    I must remark that I respect divergent opinions, as the right of anyone to prefer this pack!
    But, if someone really like it, just download the new version of the single map released and join it to the others! Will save time, bandwidth,...
    However; if someone have the (little) knowledge to join then (it`s really easy!!!), I believe the same user will prefer to use these maps separated.

    Congratulations to @david.linch that reached to upload this pack (I cannot do it earlier than he, maybe I get it in next version...).

    I agree, it's a persistent 'urban myth' that a pack is needed for older devices such as 2xx. Only useful in some very few old units which can only use one map named gmapsupp.img and no other images concurrently.

    As Pungente says in essence, everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's worth repeating [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] here:

You're entitled to your opinion of course and I'm not asking for nor expecting an explanation about that, but the truth is that generally there is no advantage in using 'packs' such as this other than very rarely if you need to have the combined detail maps as one single image on the unit or a media card on some certain devices. I suspect some people have not seen Post #2 and/or are not reading the links thoughtfully provided by Catymag in Post #5 above. So for your additional convenience but in the possibly vain hope of re-educating some users and dispelling a most persistent myth about detail map 'packs':
    • Some non-automotive devices can have only 2 detail maps, one img file on unit and one on card. Some others are limited to one map on card, and others limited to one on unit. This can also apply to some old StreetPilot auto devices [e.g. SP26x0 can have only one on CF card, SP27x0 can have 2 on unit only].
    • Some older automotive devices can have 2 map .img files in Garmin folder named gmapsupp & gmapsup1 on SD [e.g. nuvi 7xx, 2xx, 465 devices] as well as at least 3 on the unit in Garmin folder.
    • Other older nuvi series [e.g. 3xx, 5xx, 6xx] can have only one on a card, but still minimum 3 on unit.
    • Newer nuvi and related devices [e.g. 1xxx>] have a much greater capacity for separate maps because as well as minimum 3 on unit in .System folder and 1 on card in Garmin folder, they can use multiples in Map folders on both unit and card.

    So in précis, if the maps are used on the unit itself, there's no problem to have the 3 separate maps on any nuvi or similar automotive device in .System/Garmin folder. For newer 1xxx> the 3 can be be in .System folder on unit and/or 1 in card Garmin folder and/or in a folder named Map on unit/card which can store multiple maps of anyname. Or for any older nuvi units put the 3 on the unit or as a combination of unit and card [1 on unit 2 on card for some and 2 on unit 1 on card for others]. Please do yourself a big favour, read Pungente's excellent explanation in Post #2 which he's also provided in Portuguese for the convenience of local aficionadi of this pack who are, as he accurately states, the only users in the entire world regularly asking for a pack like this. Some Brazilian users seem to have fallen for some clever but deceptive marketing and now this myth has become entrenched. As with all myths it needs to be dispelled. The bulk of ppl don't need this map and there is absolutely no advantage for them to want it. For the tiny minority who do really need it [outdoor units limited to one gmapsupp.img] learn how to make the pack yourself with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in a few seconds [load map files, press 'Join' tab, set the output path and file name gmapsupp.img, type the Mapset name and press 'Join All]. It's not hard guys for the rare few of you who actually do need it. For the rest of you, please spread the word and dispel this time-wasting myth.

    Pungente, I'd appreciate if you would tidy up the following clunky translation for me when you have a little time available. Thanks in advance.

    @tonbs
    Não tenho certeza do porquê você diria que o pacote é melhor para dispositivos mais antigos. Você tem direito a sua opinião é claro; e, eu não estou pedindo, nem estou à espera de uma explicação sobre isso; mas a verdade é que geralmente não há nenhuma vantagem em usar 'pacotes' como este; exceto muito raramente, se você precisa de ter os mapas combinados como uma única imagem na unidade ou um cartão de mídia em alguns determinados dispositivos.

    Eu suspeito que algumas pessoas não viram Post #2 e/ou não estão lendo detidamente os links fornecidos acima pela Catymag no Post #5. Então, para sua conveniência adicional, mas, na possivelmente ingênua expectativa de reeducar alguns usuários, desfazendo um mito persistente sobre este pacote de mapas:

    • Algumas dispositivos não-automotivos podem ter apenas 2 mapas, um arquivo img na unidade e no cartão. Alguns outros são limitados a um mapa no cartão, e outros limitados a um mapa no GPS. Isto pode também se aplicar a alguns dispositivos automotivos StreetPilot antigos [por exemplo, SP26x0 pode ter apenas um mapa no cartão CF, SP27x0 pode ter 2 no GPS apenas].
    • Alguns dispositivos automotivos mais velhos podem ter 2 mapas (arquivos com a extensão .img) na pasta Garmin, chamados gmapsupp & gmapsup1, no cartao SD [por exemplo, nuvi 7xx, 2xx, 465 dispositivos]; e outros pelo menos 3 na pasta Garmin do GPS.
    • Outra série nuvi mais antiga [por exemplo, 3xx, 5xx, 6xx] pode ter apenas um em um cartão, mas ao menos 3 no GPS.
    • Os novos aparelhos da serie nuvi e outros dispositivos [por exemplo 1xxx >] tem uma capacidade muito maior para suportar mapas, pois lidam bem com no mínimo 3 na pasta .System do GPS e 1 no cartão em pasta Garmin, podem usar múltiplos em pastas chamadas Map no GPS e no cartão SD.

    Assim em miudos, se os mapas são usados na unidade em si, não há nenhum problema para ter os 3 mapas separados em qualquer nuvi ou dispositivo automotivo similar na pasta .System/Garmin. Para mais recente 1xxx > os 3 pode ser ser em .System pasta na unidade e/ou 1 na pasta Garmin do cartão e/ou em uma pasta chamada Map no GPS ou cartão SD que pode armazenar vários mapas com qualquernome.img. Ou para qualquer GPS nuvi mais antigo, colocar os 3 no GPS, ou como uma combinação de unidade e cartão [1 na unidade 2 no cartão para alguns, e 2 na unidade 1 no cartão para os outros].

    Por favor, faça a si proprio um grande favor, leia a excelente explicação do Pungente no Post #2, ela também esta em Português para a conveniência dos fans locais do pacote, os quais são, como afirmado com precisão, os únicos usuários do mundo inteiro regularmente pedindo um pacote como este. Alguns usuários brasileiros parecem ter caído num marketing inteligente mas enganoso, e agora este mito esta arraigado. Como com todos os mitos, precisa ser dissipado. A maior parte dos usuarios não precisa deste mapa e não há absolutamente nenhuma vantagem para que eles o queiram. Para a pequena minoria que realmente necessitam [unidades exteriores limitadas a um gmapsupp.img] Aprenda a fazer o pacote se com [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] em poucos segundos [carregar arquivos de mapa, pressione 'Unir', definir o caminho de saída e nome gmapsupp.img do arquivo, digite o nome de Mapset e pressione ' juntar todos]. Não é mau para os muito poucos de vocês que realmente precisam. Para o resto de vocês, por favor, divulguem este conhecimento, e acabem este mito que é um desperdício de tempo.
    The hard work and dedication of members who compile these packs is appreciated, but the continued existence of the packs only tends to perpetuate the myth that they are actually necessary.
    That being said, if the pack is correctly made there is no reason why it shouldn't work perfectly in any unit.
