In your 3580 you have the option to change the speed limit indicator on a particular road [and for speed segmented sections of long roads] by pressing the SL Indicator while in simulation. However, you will need to do that after each turn and for each new segment whenever the speed limit changes. If you don't reset it, the simulated speed will reduce back to the posted limit or below. But the most you can increase it to is 180kph i think, regardless of whether the SLI shows 10 or 120 kph.

You can see route in MapSource and even import it from menu to Google maps! Simulation mode is as like as chalk and cheese in relation to really navigation because really position is not always matched to maps data. Sometimes even GPS accuracy affects on route. If your aim is travelling from point A to point B download map and go! Garmin have the good data and its realization. Noeman forum has really experienced moderator staff and deserves the respect... :005:

@Niel: At 180km/h it's going to take about 5h. I guess I'll just have to test few spots and see if there are any problems. If, in the meantime, original IMG gets posted I'll replace my own map with it.

@Giomen: My goal is to make GPS device simulate entire route I'm going to drive in real life, to make sure there's no map data that's going to reboot it while I'm driving. Because that's what happened in the past with made up Australian map. I was lucky to detect that while I was till at home, and Niel kindly provided original IMG that solved that problem.

In any case, thanks for suggestions. Lets get back on topic.

I see that you too worry not crashing your map.
I ask, have you any smart phone to put more navigation 2-3-4 and be completely assured that you'll get where you want

@crab987: From my experience, if the trip you're going to is important and/or long - stuck with proven map product. Usually a version below the current is enough.

Or, if you really want to make your drive with the newest map, maybe it is a good idea to split your long trip on few shorter? And, as you suggested, try to test only those spots, that could cause a problem. Restarting the device in the middle of 300+ km of highway is not so bad, but in the city center it could be real pain...

A backup plan with good old paper map is also a good idea

Guys, crab987 was just a bit 'gun shy' because he had a rare and unlucky bad experience with an unofficial 'pre-release' map like this one previously. He's now organised and reconciled. No further advice or comments needed by anyone please. Thanks for trying to help though.

Slight problem with Basecamp. I downloaded the unlocked Torrent. The map works fine on my Garmin device (seen as unlocked), however it isn't listed in Basecamp. I can't import it "from device" as it doesn't see any unlocked maps.

My question is, what program has been used to unlock this map? Then this program probably shouldn't be used anymore

If it works on your unit it's correctly unlocked. BC should see it as it can even show locked images.

I think the MS flag could still be set to the default '1' instead of '0'. Check with GMapTool and change if necessary.
