    Thats what I'm looking for. Is it possible to remove Mexico from the full map? I've searched for tutorials but I cant find anything specific for that.

    To Remove Mexico you need to download the full Mapsource (PC) installation from post #1
    You can then use Mapinstall to Create a custom gmapsupp.img without Mexico.

    Yes it does. Which is why it's in Post #1.

    Maybe the easiest for you would be to run either [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in the gmap folder to unlock the entire gmap folder, then copy it into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps [for XP] or C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps [for Vista & Win 7/8].

    You'll be able to see your unlocked ['not lockable'] map in Basecamp/MapInstall to select the parts you want.

    Have a good look at the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to save your time. The answers to all basic questions are there so that you won't have to post for info so much.

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I did it! [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    The funny thing is that it was so easy. I spent hours and hours going thru the tutorials but they just send you 20 directions. If anything it made the process alot harder for me.
    I was just messing around with basecamp after I got the full map installed, thanks Neil. I clicked on the maps-install maps tab but I couldnt send the map to my device because it's an in car unit but I had my thumb drive connected to the pc and that came up as a device. Next thing you know MapInstall pops up and I figured out how to edit the map to a smaller size and installed it on the thumb drive. Plugged the thumb drive into my laptop and hooked that up to the in car unit, uploaded the new map and an hour later I was good to go. If I didnt have that thumb drive connected by chance I would still be scratching my head. Just want to say thanks again to everyone that helped, much appreciated.

    @Skylinestar
    Although a very nice and user-friendly program to use, MapSource is no longer supported by Garmin and is not recommended for creating CNNT images, particularly large ones. The recommended programs to use are BaseCamp & MapInstall. MS compiles img files somewhat differently and because it may create tiny errors in the resultant image, it's just not suitable to use with modern map files. Go to the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and you'll find plenty of links to help you, even with MS.

    I guess i havne't been reading enough of the forums. Is there a general rule for the size before there might be problems in the img and what kinds of problems? The images i make are generally 2-4 Gigs. I havne't noticed anything unusual other than the same problems i've seen with their maps for many years..
