I simply think if Garmin Mapupdater or Express send to our device one map (NT) or another one (NTU) it means there must be a reason. I dont think Garmin compiles 2 different CNEU maps for fun. Probably some firmwares cant handle NTU at its best.
Recently many users are telling NTU map search works fine in old devices with new firmwares, but if it's true I'm wondering why does Garmin publish 2 different maps ?

I am not expert all over Europe too. But I had such a nervous situations with searching for cities and POI. NT version work not perfect too because it have some infant analog Unicode with transliteration. But if I changed text language the searching was more predictable to opposite NTU version.
What about routes I did not saw any difference on my ways.

Because the theme of the nuvi 1XXX series and NTU found its proposal, I would like to say a few words, too.
With this card (CNEU 2013.40 NTU) and firmware 5.10 my nuvi 1410 really builds routes not always optimal. I tested using simulation. Address search works perfectly, JCV and LA too.
I think the reason of errors that this card is not suitable for 1XXX, and not the firmware 5.10. This firmware is one of the stable - I tested the Navigator with all firmwares from 5.10 to 6.10.
I hope that I have understood correctly.

For maps NT and NTU 2013.30 (the 2013.40 no "exist" ,for now, the NT)

Differences largest region Italy&ėGreece ORIGINAL :

    2v13tqu

For differences JV,read test in this post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

For routes in MS....I imported a path from the device; interesting only with the change of map: look

    2efl2z8

    voubep

The same path as I tried it on the navigator time ago ... and offered me a crazy route with NTU.
Retried now with the NT and with the NTU, seems pretty consistently and correctly with both maps,
But I have not checked the path completely

    Bye,bye

I think that Garmin has a lot of Lifetime Contracts for NT Maps in Europe,
They also have a lot of Lifetime Contracts for NTU Maps in Europe, NTU is needed for Special Character Sets in Some European Countries.
That is why they need to Release 2 Maps for Europe.
The Americas North and South will probably stay on NT, English, French,Spanish and Portuguese.
Some Countries in North Africa need NTU, That is why Pan Africa NTU has already been released.
In Theory, By just modifying the Firmware any Garmin Device new or old could be modified to use NTU Map. !
This seems to be the case of the Nuvi 250W reported by CatyMag.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

Firmware 5.10 did not work properly with usual NT map too. Garmin even patch this in next 5.20 version with urgently:

"Changes made from version 5.10 to 5.20:
Fixed an error that caused the device to prompt users to turn the wrong direction on certain routes.
Fixed an error that caused routes to calculate slowly."

and so on and so on. Only since version 5.40 Nuvi 1xxx work normally with CityNavigator NT probably.

I thought what it is map errors, but Garmin support said version 5.10 is incompatible with new map of Europe.

Garmin route is very very delicate thing. In some situations a shift of position to several second give another route. Without doubt Garmin compiles each map version from zero despite the same map data. Plus NTU version have a lot of SID, and if I delete some of that SID the route is building quite differently on 2012 series.

roger1109, at next time you can do duplicate of route in the same Mapsource window and after that you can change it color and recalculate for next chosen map. In this case even small difference in route is looking as sticking out of one color from another.

Nuvi 250W have a text source (text gtt files) in Unicode and it must read Unicode by default. But we have for example many old Nuvi 3xx and 6xx, Quest, handhelders in very fine condition and they was not going to die for some reason. Also for POI in Unicode for example - sounding is fine but mojibake in text are present.

    JCV files:
In CNENT 2013.30 the JCV file (D2504100A) = 570.667 kB
The new JCV file D3048090A (CNENT 2013.40) = 374.010 kB
What up? High res / Low res?
Where can I find de high res JCV file for 2013.40?
