    Topo France pro unlocked with Gimgunlock ,Gmaptool log attached:

    The same map unlocked in my 34xx:

    KW1OU

    I havent tried with FIU ,but I guess it hasnt any problem in unlocking it.

    EDIT:
    Tried FIU too: map is unlocked and no size change comparing to the locked version and with the Gimgunlock unlocked one.
    Always length 377900236, the only relevant thing is Gimgunlock is a way faster.

    Edit2: Using Win7 x64

    Than you. I really am puzzled. I downloaded the locked zippyshare version of the map. Size of img file when unzipped is 3690432 KB. After processing by FastIMG unlocker, the IMG file = 2632832 KB. The sizes are as shown in Windows explorer. The IMG "works" both in my Garmin 62s and basecamp. I am also puzzled as to why you -and others - can unlock the IMG with gimgunlock whereas I cannot. Do you have any thoughts on why I should be getting a smaller IMG file after using FIU?

    @hppavil2

    I just downloaded, checked and unlocked the IMG with gimgunlock and within 5 seconds all was done properly. And no size change as well (stays still 3.690.432 kb)

    @hard69

    The reduction in file size only happens with FIU. I have no reduction in file size for gimgunlcok - but it doesn't give me a readable, unlocked IMG file. I am using Windows 7, 64 bit. As I say, I am puzzled!

    It looks like your computer suffers from the mysterious 'shrinking file syndrome'.
    (A little bit of humor goes a long way in such cases - it loosens up the mind.)
    Now, in a more serious note:
    On my computer (Windows XP SP3 32-bit) the locked and the unlocked files are exactly the same size (down to the last bit), and the unlocked file works just fine in BaseCamp 3.3.3.
    I downloaded the .rar files, extracted the locked IMG file and unlocked it as described in my previous post.
    Of course, I unlocked it ONLY ONCE by dragging a copy of the locked IMG file onto gimgunlock.exe. Using any procedure more than once, or using several different procedures in sequence may yield DIFFERENT results.
    Do you still have the original locked IMG file (or, even better, the original downloaded .rar files)?
    If so, then it may be a good idea to start again from the original locked IMG file (or, better, the .rar files).
    If not, then it is probably a good idea to download again.

    I'll try that. I will also try unlocking the IMG file on my laptop (Win 7, 32 bit). I'll let you know how it goes!

    Problem now resolved. I downloaded the RAR file again but this time through the torrent. The IMG file was quickly unzipped by both gimgunlock and FIU and was detected in basecamp and on my 62s. The locked and unlocked IMG files are all the same size.

    I can only assume that one or more of the files that I originally downloaded from zippyshare led to a corrupted IMG file which could not be unlocked by gimgunlock.

    I am also guessing that FIU was able, in some mysterious way, to produce a readable file from my zippyshare download by using only part of it - thus the small file size.

    In short, the answer was to download the original locked file and start again.

    Thanks for your help.

    If the files you downloaded are corrupted winrar wouldnt unrar them.
    Users downloaded that .img and unlocked it without problems.
    May be your pc has memory problems, FIU can need big memory to unlock big map parts, probably it doesnt unlock all the parts or leaves them and rebuilds the map missing some parts.
    See FIU thread:
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    at v.1.3 (5.10.10) changelog:
    NOTE : If you run a 64 bit os it will unlock also Garmin GB Discoverer 150K Full Coverage IMG and maps with big IMGs (Garmin Unlocker will need 3GB memory to work) with other oses you can try 3GB Switch

    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    But you shouldnt have problems with GImgunlock, it works in a different way, unlike other tools which use GMapTool to split an image file, unlock each tile, then join all tiles; this tool unlocks all tiles in an image file directly without splitting and joining.
    That's why we give advice in threads to use it with new maps instead of FIU and I stuck it in Software section instead of FIU.

    @hppavil2:
    I think it is generally a good idea to make copies and work on them (leaving the originals as a backup to start over with if something goes wrong), unless there is a reason not to do so (e.g., huge files, lack of disk space, etc.).

    @catymag:
    I agree gimgunlock is an excellent tool. Really smart way to do the job. Who created it?
