    I wonder how and where you installed this map. To understand what a Basemap is, read this post: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
    A Basemap is placed in the internal memory of your Garmin device. It does not get installed on your PC.

    Edit:
    Correction to the above information. I now realize you may not be talking about a Basemap, but about the Worldmap. If you installed it on your PC and want to completely remove it, just delete the gmap folder from the PC and clean the Registry of any old entries, using a program like CCleaner or similar. It's always a good habit to make a backup of the Registry before making changes to it.
